The script I use is always different, and its accurate. Shortbus is 9th in passing D, not 5th, for instance, going off yards allowed. We're 3rd in the run, not 2nd. We're also 8th passing. Does it do some kind of composite ranking based on yards and scores?

yes, he's mentioned it before. I believe he uses some other factors in it.

Indeed... raw yardage stats alone are worthless, since the blowout games aren't even close to realistic, nor are they sensibly distributed when the same cakewalk team faces the elite in the conference ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=1019305 ) or another bad team ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=1019302 ). This comparison would show that Odessa is much better than Stryden as a passing team, and comparable as a rushing team?

So I throw a couple other things in to try to offset the raw yardage output... on offense I use yards per attempt, TDs scored, and completion percentage for the passing game. For instance Nolaha is 14th from a pure passing yardage standpoint, but they've got 4th highest yards per attempt, and 4th highest completion percentage. The case can be made that they're a great passing team that doesn't have a lot of yards because they simply choose not to pass, since their running game is so effective. They'd be top 10 in passing, but they're also only 16th in TD passes, so that brings them back a bit.

The big equalizer is that my spreadsheet retains historical data for each team, so the rankings determine how you performed against a specific team, compared to how they fare against the rest of their schedule. If you score more than they normally allow, then your offense gets style points... likewise, if you hold them below their normal output, then your defense gets a bump in the overall ranking.
