That is my players build, considering he's playing second string I think his numbers have been o.k.

What speed should I be looking to get him up to? And when he is at the right speed should I work on getting AGI and VIS to the next cap or focus on something else? (i.e Jumping/Strength/Tackling)

At a minimum, speed, agility and vision should all be taken up to 68. I'm looking at 74. You could even consider 78 too if you really want to push a player into the top tier, but this will mean that you won't have too many SA"s especially after you've dealt with strength, tackling and confidence.

what about strength and tackling to 48.
train strength/tackling
agility to 74
vistion to 74
speed to 74

jumping/stamina somewhere in there

Not smart to just go to the first cap and sit on it with strength and tackling. It's better to hit agility, vision, speed, before strength and tackling since the gains you get when you level up will make those points more valuable in the long run.

that's not what he'd do though...take them to first cap and then train them; can get them from 48 to like 52 or 53 in a season and just keep on training them til 60 if he wants while still putting pts into agi/vis/speed.
the skill points saved in training str/tack from 48 on >>>> level gains

It's better to train your primary skill(s) when they hit 77 than training secondary skills in the 50s, imo.

I'd say 115-120 speed is a decent target for a top-level OLB.

Definately more Speed/Agility - 77-80 natural for speed and agility on a Outside Linebacker. Remember there are a ton of 120 Speed backs your going up against.

When building a player sometimes you gotta look at your own players and how they would do against each other. My Outside LB I built to stop my own HB which is now 112 Speed 88 Agility with high SA's. So a 90 Speed 75 Agility LB wasn't what I think was best to stop him. I guess this makes since.

about 100 speed around level 45. 105 around 50, 110-115 is enough at the top end imo.

With about 100 spd, playing on the outside, if you have high enough vision you'll be able to get to the corner to cut off a speed back. If you're at LOLB, you need enough speed, agility and vision to cover the best pass catching TEs as well which 100spd should handle.

100spd,90agl,70vision (75/75/67 natural) with the appropriate VAs has worked well enough to lead a top flight team in INTs 2 years in a row, even as he's on the decline.

That said, McFadden knows of what he speaks. Different strokes...

i'm with you. too many other things to build up to have speed at 115. i'm sure you never get beat deep but youre behind in other things that are more subtle. both monkeyboy and mcfaddens ideas will let you have a solid LOLB.

at level 50 you can easily manage >100 speed, >80 agility, and >70 vision. With max eq and football genius you can have 110 speed, 90 agility, >75 vision with enough strength and fairly good tackling, and still get some SAs.
