I'm slow building a tackle and was debating on when to add points and to what.

He is a level 9 and is at 48 in both str and agl. I have 20 points and was planning on hitting the next cap on str at lvl 10. Should I do that or hit the soft cap on tackling first?

Also what do you guys recommend on training at this point. I'm doing speed and tackling or should I just go to tackling or some other combo.

Ugh. Man don't spread out your points like that, you should have taken strength to at least 72 right from the start... Never ever spread your points like that, it only hurts your player in the long run!

EDIT: And if you want to salvage that, do not, and I do mean do NOT raise tackling now. Just put every single SP into strength for a long time.

what he said. All points in strength to at least 77 if not 81. Then points in agility. Only train tackling.

I would agree with just training tackling and speed. But I think you did the right thing in capping agility now. But now that it is capped it's time to work on strength again . Put a few points into vision when you can to but remember a DT can never be strong enough.

NO!!!! DUDE!!! DO NOT .... DO NOT COME INTO FORUMS LIKE THIS TO GIVE BAD ADVICE!!!!

FFS!

DO NOT EVER EVER EVER _EVER_ EVER SPREAD POINTS AROUND. If he wanted to circle-cap, which is a _BAD_ idea for a DT, he should have still taken strength to 60, agility to 60, then strength to 77/83 and agility to either 72 or 77, and after that, only after that should he invest SPs into tackling (68 or 72), and then MAYBE speed instead of vision. TBFH, he shouldn't even think of putting "a few points" anywhere. Points are used to get to an attribute to the desired cap, or not used at all. Vision is important, but when he gets to it he'll be like level 35+.

Thanks for the feedback. The reason I hit the cap on agility was to get the level bonus. Figured if I was getting .66 points per level I might as well make that worth 1.3 on agility and strength, instead of just on strength even at 3 to 1 it isn't as good mathematically. So if I spent the 24 points on strength going from 48 to 60, instead of 24 to 48 on agility, seems to make sense to me to hit the cap on agility while I can get more bang when I level up.

I will definitely take your advice on the strength from now until I hit 77. Should I train strength as well? Since I'm trying to get to 77 ASAP, training strength would make the most sense, since I'll get the same value training speed and tackling later, but won't get the extra boost for strength after lvl 21.

Hmm wait. Let's just imagine for simplification you get 1 point per levelup to each of two attributes, ok?

If you raise attribute A to 60, you get 3 sps per level on A, and 1 SP per level on B.
If you raise attribute A to 49 and B to 49, you get 2 sps per level on A and 2 sps per level on B.

Last time I looked, 1+3 = 2+2 = 4!

You will have to raise both attributes higher than 68 even, so you might as well get maximum growth out of your primary attribute, since (Specially in the NT case) strength pays off.

You should be looking to get a skill up to at least 28 if your going to start investing in a skill. It's wasted training. Especially if you said you where slow building. 30+ is better, but you have to then make sure your getting value for your training.

Thanks guys

I was just playing a little devils advocate here.

The logic is clear and make sense. At the same time I think getting to 48 at agility and strength makes just as much sense as getting strength to 60 first. Yet with strength being a more important attribute I can totally understand why you would want to get strength as high as possible early. Thanks again for taking the time to dispel your pearls of wisdom on this young samari.
