Tana River, Alaska (AP): The excitement has been building over the long offseason. Now on the eve of season 3 we take a look at some of new changes in the league. Each conference has received two new teams. The conference was only expecting two new teams, but were surprised when Brooklyn decided to make a jump to a higher league. Frankfurt also decided to abandon the BBB 12 for what they believe will be friendly ground in Europe. In the East, they are 10-Yard Fight and Saint Paul Vulcans. In the West, they are Mighty Chihuahuas and Long Beach All-Stars.

A quick look at the new teams, Saint Paul and Chihuahuas look to be stronger. As none of the four new teams play each other in inter-conference play, it will be difficult to determine who is the strongest. The Chihuahuas and Vulcans both have a good chance to make the playoffs and make an immediate impact on the league. The Chihuahuas have a couple of easier games to start the season before having to travel to Cherry Poppin' Stadium for a battle with the Slugs as their first real test. The Vulcans aren't as lucky as they have two tough road games to start the season. Their first test comes tomorrow when they travel to the Louisiana Superdome and face the Saints.

The preseason favorite to win the league this year is Tecmo. They were the preseason favorite last year as well, but a second round playoff upset spoiled their plans. Tecmo will have to wait until week 15 to try and get some revenge for their playoff loss when Awesomeville comes to the Tecmo Bowl. Despite being a dominate team last season, Tecmo was busy in the off-season recruiting. They have brought in more talent to an already talent laden team. This could have had an affect on Brooklyn's decision. Expectations are running high and anything less than a league championship will be a disappointment.

Looking to the West, the favorite to reach the league championship game and face Tecmo is Honolulu. Last season they made it to the conference championship before falling to the eventual league champions. This season they hope to take it at least one step further. The early part of the season will be their toughest. In their first nine games, they play five of the toughest teams in the West. They start off with a trip to Veterans Stadium to battle Long Beach. They then return home to meet up with Los Angeles. Express was one of only two teams to beat them last season. This should be a good game as the Beach Boys were able to get some revenge on Express in the playoffs last season. If Honolulu can get by these two teams, they will have a lot of confidence to make it through the rest of the season unscathed.

Ottawa changed names from last season. I almost included them as a new team, but they just relocated from Charleston and were called the Mountaineers.

Michael Strahan, of GLB Total Access, reported that an inside source from the Chihuahuas stated that "they are pleased to be here and are looking forward to the year ahead."

The Slugs will be happy this season to avoid salt... and win 3 in a row. Oh and home games... and any game in which we play football... just simple modest goals, from a simple modest team... Look at those new dogs... very good team, focus on them ignore the Slugs

Oh wait that didn't work too well last season did it?

<sigh>

Only time will tell CODB, but this should be a hell of a game this early in the season, at least it gives whoever loses plenty of time to change the way we approach each other and the Tiki Idol is on the line so its gonna be a battle for sure
