Texan's Week 9 Picks
Current Record: 113-15
What these teams need are more cheesy 80s training and inspiration. So here it is...
Naga
Monks (8-0) v Rumrunners (0-8)
The Monks are cruising, just "Playing with the Boys" this season and are looking good in their cheesy beach volleyball montage. The Rumrunners need a "Hero" to rescue them here. Monks 75, Rumrunners 6.
SLS (8-0) v Thai (3-5)
I actually find this one pretty interesting as Thai is starting to come around like they do. Look for this to be SLS's toughest challenge to date and they could be entering the "Danger Zone". Does Thai have the "Eye of the Tiger" for this one? SLS 27, Thai 24.
Saigon (8-0) v Tibet (7-1)
After a big win over the Jam, Saigon's thinking "Nothin's Gonna Stop Us Now", but now they face another challenge in a Tibet team that has cruised since a tough week 1. Tibet better "Ride Like The Wind" to get out of this one with a W. I think this will have a playoff-type atmosphere as Tibet has something to prove and Saigon wants to keep the streak. Saigon 31, Tibet 20.
NBA (7-1) v Mekong (2-6)
Just when Mekong gets a full roster they run into an NBA team ready to dunk on someone like they've listened to the "Teen Wolf" theme too many times. "This Is It" for Mekong probably for now. NBA 42, Mekong 17.
Bali (4-4) v SCSK (2-6)
SCSK gets the second of the Bali/Bacolod double helix of doom and they seem to have a "Burning Heart" to prove me wrong again. Bali meanwhile would love to be above .500 past the midway point in the season. "Believe It or Not" I think it will happen, just not easily. Bali 27, SCSK 20.
PDP (4-4) v CMM (1-7)
Old rivals square off again, but with a tad less on the line than usual. PDP thinks, like the great musician Frank Stallone that it's "Far From Over", but CMM would like to put in a dagger. "Don't Stop Believin'" CMM. PDP 35, CMM 28.
Bacolod (4-4) v The Blue (3-5)
Is it above .500 time for Bacolod or back into The Blue's guest house? You don't want to go there, trust me. "What a Feeling" it would be for Bacolod to have a winning record next week, but The Blue is looking very competitive and "Hungry Like The Wolf". This should be a relatively even matchup, so whomever plans this one out better wins ofc. The Blue 23, Bacolod 20.
HKH (1-7) v PPW (0-8)
HKH is looking to stay in Pro next season when their dots are more older and stuff. If they win the "relegation bowl" part I, they should. PPW may play like a "Maniac" in this one but it won't be enough. HKH 75, PPW 10.
garuda
Krungthep (8-0) v LSP (8-0)
Finally we get some action in garuda. Enough of the heavy weights circling each other, let's throw some punches. The loser will have to say "You're the Best", at least until the playoffs. Which team brings the "Anvil of Crom" this time out? I think LSP has really picked up steam and are the defending champs but Krungthep looks sick. Krungthep 42, LSP 30.
Bangalore (8-0) v BKK (3-4)
Bangalore has been quietly beating that ass, while BKK is having their worst season in recent memory. BKK better watch Bloodsport again and put "Fight to Survive" on their ipods because "The Heat is On" against Bangalore. Should be close in the first half, but... Bangalore 42, BKK 20.
Tet (8-0) v Danang (2-6)
Poor Danang, they really aren't a bad team, they're just playing a rough schedule and must feel like they've been "Workin' in a Coalmine". Unfortunately for them Tet is riding their "Chariots of Fire" right into the damn stadium where their offense plans to light shit up again. Tet 56, Danang 20.
Buffalo (6-2) v RSR (1-7)
It's been a rough season so far for RSR and now they get another very good team in Buffalo. At some point RSR has to rise up and say "We're Not Gonna Take It", but Buffalo is planning on going "Footloose" all over that stadium. Buffalo 45, RSR 13.
Lampang (5-3) v Sydney (3-5)
Lampang is thankful not to be playing Krungthep two weeks in a row as Sydney rolls into town. You know Lampang will be playing everyone's favorite pre-game warmup "In The Air Tonight" and busting out of the tunnel to the sound of those drums. Sydney will need some inspiration of their own if they are to stay relevant for the season, so they better make a "Cool Change" here. Lampang 31, Sydney 17.
Sweatshop (4-4) v MMJ (1-7)
The Sweatshop is pulling it together and climbing the charts, definitely "Alive and Kicking" in the playoff race. MMJ doesn't care much about this season and this could be part of their "Final Countdown" in pro. Sweatshop 85, MMJ 6.
Singapore (3-5) v Lucid (3-5)
It's fairly early still but this could be the game that decides the 8th playoff spot. It's going to take some "Pure Energy" to win this and for the loser it will be a "Hazy Shade of Winter" the rest of the season. Lucid 17, Singapore 14.
Dharma (CPU) v Ottawa (2-6)
Ottawa goes for the first pro win streak! Just "Sign Your Name" on Dharma's ass, it's not a "New Sensation" for them. Ottawa 255, Dharma 0.
