Be interesting to see whether I'm better than an Excel spreadsheet
(currently 12-2)
GOTW1
Lyon Winemakers (3-1) @ La Tourette Syndrome (4-0)
Sorry for putting us GOTW again, but this one is tasty! LTS are currently 1-0 head-to-head, and we intend to keep things that way!
Actual: LTS won 82-0 - Lyon just couldn't get things rolling, and our offense was decisive.
GOTW2
Belfast Commandos (2-2) @ Warsaw Wolves (2-2)
I almost put the Bath/Dresden game in here, but I think this one has the makings of a great game and should be important in the playoff race. Warsaw just fell away at the end of last season, and have had a couple of close losses this season, but a win against Belfast could get their season back on track. Belfast have stuttered to get going this season, and this could be a big test to see whether they will challenge
Prediction: Belfast by 3, in a low scoring game!
Actual: Warsaw won 32-10 - really didn't expect this result, although Warsaw must be a little worried that their kicker got most of the points. Lovely game by their defense though!
Bath Killer Bees (3-1) @ Dresden Demons (3-1)
Although these are two 3-1 teams, I think Bath will really dominate this one. Dresden have beaten teams with a combined record of 1-11, whilst came unstuck against LTS in a big way. I see Bath doing a similar thing.
Prediction: Bath by 42
Actual: Dresden by 2 - massive upset here imo...and it was only a late rally that made the game close. Excellent game on the ground for Dresden, and Gibson had a season best game to disrupt the Bath QBs enough.
Bjelasnica Red Star (2-2) @ Hamburg Parrots (2-2)
The final interesting game out of this group, and I think Hamburg might struggle against Bjelasnica unless they're on top of their game. A close loss to Amsterdam shows what the Parrots can do, but as long as they don't feel after the loss they'll have too much for Red Star. Their respective results Warsaw hold the key to this prediction.
Prediction: Parrots by 17.
Actual: Parrots won 33-30 - another game a lot closer than I thought...frantic final couple of minutes took the game to overtime, then the Parrots defense come through. I'd be worried if I had feathers about this result though...
Stockholm Meatballs (0-4) @ D-Town Bushwalkers (2-2)
I really want to go with the upset on this one, and I think this will be a lot closer than it appears on first viewing. The problem is that Stockholm have really struggled offensively so far, whereas D-Town can put a few points on the board...although this will be low scoring, D-Town will pull out the win.
Prediction: D-Town by 24.
Actual: D-Town won 40-17 - one point out...not bad! Though again it was the 4th quarter that made the difference...on this evidence though, Stockholm should chalk up 3 or 4 wins this season.
Rome Titans (0-4) @ Amsterdam Affliction (4-0)
Despite being 0-4, Rome have impressed me with how well they have scored against the teams they've faced. Shame that won't happen against the Affliction...this one could be pretty painful to watch.
Prediction: Amsterdam by 63.
Actual: Amsterdam won 89-14 - getting 14 points is impressive by Rome, though the Amsterdam QB is scary good on that showing!
Plainview Bulldogs (0-4) @ The Evil Empire (3-1)
Three more games until Plainview can realistically hope to get a win, and with Empire wanting to bounce back from the first loss of the season I can't see anything near a shock here.
Prediction: Evil by 105.
Actual: Evil won 97-0 - pretty much as expected, though Plainview should be happy that they kept it under a ton.
Parts Unknown (0-4) @ Team Perkis (2-2)
Parts have really stunk up this season so far, especially on defense. Perkis have been unfortunate with their two losses and this one will be easy.
Prediction: Perkis by 84.
Actual: Perkis won 101-0 - didn't think it would be this bad. Looks like the Parts/Plainview game will be the decider for the bottom two teams.
