Getting tired of watching retards post about something that they have no clue about (dogmeat would be the latest), so I'll open up the debate here... Is selling your team actually a selfish act?
Let's look at the factors involved.
1.) sold it after the week 3 games... Had a 1-1 in-conference record... That means exactly ONE team in the conference was affected by having to play a competitive OTR team. Had I sold it mid-season, I'd say that argument would be a bit more legit... As it is, the timing was almost perfect.
2.) Team ownership... If you don't actually WORK at trying to make a competitive team while doing AI (i did the defense), you have absolutely no idea how time consuming it is... I would literally spend 2-3 hours a day scouting, making defensive plays, tweaking the AI. That on top of normal team functions like keeping up with equipment, trying to make the forums more lively, etc... (try making that commitment for 2 straight years...)
3.) Sim changes... Single-most time consuming aspect of the game as an owner... I would spend countless preseason hours breaking down the sim trying to see what was working and what wasn't... When the game swings wildly from one season to the next and you're trying to keep everybodies builds on the right path while trying to run 1/2 of the gameplan, it's pretty much a motherfucker.
4.) Point in agents careers... Yes, I owed a lot to the agents that formed my team. They put players on my squad that they built with their own money... That's why I owed them a chance to get onto a competitive squad before they hit decline. If I was no longer going to spend my time trying to adjust my defense to the sim, we weren't going to be realistically competitive... So why trap these guys on that kind of team?
5.) Playoffs... OTR was most likely a top 4 seed before selling the squad. If I had made the decision to finish off this season and then sell the team, I would be robbing one team of the opportunity to host a home playoff game... In the current economic structure, that's pretty important. I would say that's a very selfless act.
