I have a L60+ rushing FB that destroys slightly underleveled competition with broken tackles, running right over multiple defenders (awesome to watch on the replay), but against even-level or slightly overleveled tacklers, he rarely gets more than a couple of BTs. I hear all about Str, Carry, Power Thru, SYM, etc... and am aware of the importance of Spd/Agi/Vis, but I'm really curious about Confidence.

Does anyone know (either via a Bort post, or comparison of results of similar-level/build/VA/SA rushing FBs with 48 / 60 / 68+ Confidence, etc.), if Confidence seems to play a significant role in breaking tackles against higher-level competition?

I know it's a fairly specific question, but have to ask. All other things being equal, does Confidence give a "get the F off me" break tackle boost, or is it just a waste of points after a cap or two?

Thanks,

- H

I hear confidence increases the chances of breaking consecutive tackles. But I can't remember who or where i heard that from and it was at least a season or two ago, so take it with a grain of salt. But I'm taking confidence (through nat level gains) on my Power WR up to 68 out of that belief... so we'll see where it goes.

Waste of points IMHO.

An easy way to test it is to take some HotC and compare your play-off performances to the regular season vs the same teams.

I've had confidence over 60 with HotC and my broken tackles were pretty much identical, but it's only a small sample size. I have recently become a fan of stamina for power runners. To me, confidence is only a factor when you do not have enough of it.

Just curious what makes the most beneficial impact for an already high level power rushing FB to actually break tackles vs. even-to-higher opponents. At this point, I'm really thinking the only thing left is more BT AEQ...

without knowing some of your attribs, it's difficult to say.

my lvl-25 fb had a decent amt of broken tackles in playing in a lvl-38 league last season and i've never trained conf. my lvl-40 fb had quite a few broken tackles in a lvl-42 league, but i trained his conf to the mid-40s.

speaking of broken tackles, please keep this thread going:

My big dilema was what to do with the final 15 points, I could have put 2 into carry, 3 into Sure Hands and 10 into Power through to got that to 10 natural, 16 total, vs 14 total currently. Put them into Confidence to get it to the 48 cap. Low 30s currently through training.
I chose instead to get vision to the 60.5 cap. I really hope this was not a big mistake on my part

Yes, more BT AEQ and more stamina to keep you at full attributes longer, since breaking tackles drains energy and thus lower attributes afaik.

First thing to do is drop the power thru AEQ and get a +% break tackle chance AEQ. As for your SP, vision to 60 probably wasn't a great choice, as vision is not all that important for a power runner. No idea what your current attributes are at, but taking speed from 73 to 76 wouldn't have been a terrible use of the points.

Well I added confidence to cap with my receiving FB this offseason moving up to WL and he's proving far more effective at breaking tackles on the limited game data I have, happy with leaning on confidence here.

I remember the same thing being said, although I don't know if it was by someone who knows what they're talking about.

Confidence is probably related to morale, and there are certainly a lot of defensive VAs and SAs that lower morale before or during the tackle, making it easier to tackle someone. At the very least, it seems like you wouldn't want to have confidence too low.

i would dump points into Hometown hero for the season and then compare results of home games vs away games to see if confidence helps any
