Should the Jump attribute be worked on for Containment DE's? Would that help them to be able to swat the ball away? Would it help them to be able to dive farther on a tackle attempt?

If you want to know what any attribute/skill does hit Skill Points even though you are not planning on spending them and put your cursor over the name of the attribute. Jumping helps for batting balls down for defensive linemen and is used when diving for tackles.

This should be taken with a grain of salt. Don't let training jumping get in the way of making sure the big tree are taken care of first. =)

Correct ^ I was more or less just pointing out that you can easily find information on any attribute. Jumping is the lowest priority of all the ones you should consider training. Speed/agility are probably the most important.

If your DE is built well he's going to be able to penetrate the O-line and either hit the QB for a sack OR produce a hurried pass that with a decent amount of jumping you can bat away. Take note that you need to have worked on Strength/Agility/Speed/Vision/Tackling before Jumping. Although intense training it together with the other major attributes ain't a bad idea.

I understand all of that guys. I knew that Strength/Agility/Speed/Vision/Tackling were all more important. I was just wondering if Jumping fit somewhere into the equation. It will be a long time before I even touch jumping.

Clearly, but jumping is pretty underrated.. I had one lineman with 48 jumping and another with 18 and the PDs were through the roof alone for the jumping guy.

I think that's true for any position on defense, but I would put jumping as a priority to train similar to how you'd handle confidence, rather than ignore it completely.. DT anyway, DE probably isn't as effective.

Jumping goes behind vision and SA's. It's worth training... but I have yet to see any evidence to put SP's into.

My old ass containment DE. 16 PDS in Oceania PRO last season. 50 in Jumping. Close to half his tackles were diving tackles.
