And when I mean Field Gen specialization, I mean +16 in it (seriously).
Since the run may work with Field Gen and with the advent of QB custom slots, why waste a run play expending energy with a pocket passer when you can expend it on a QB with heavy Field Gen? Plus, by doing that, at least the Field Gen QB has an indirect factor on the play by influencing the o-line and HB/FB.
Granted there's the whole issue of "tagging," but my answer to that would be a mix between Field Gen and rushing QB. The higher rushing bar will make defenses paranoid, stacking the outside in fear of QB scrambles where in fact the QB will never be scrambling in the first place - he will only work it inside with his HB/FB.
^ Alternatively, the QB could opt to be a standard pocket passer, raising his passing bar to trick defenses into thinking he's a legit passer, when in fact, he's not. His stats would be raised via creampuff matches. In serious matches, his stats would be raised via screens. If the OC opts never to run, that's perfectly fine - play count isn't a huge issue for me personally.
The Field Gen QB can also max tag Mentor (eventually), helping his fellow pass exclusive QB buddies. Hell, he may as well max tag Hard Count too, since his VA options are limited anyways with both sucky passing and or rushing. Natural Leader is, of course, first priority.
