What are the top 6 attributes for a CB

The top 3 are obvious,
1.Speed
2.Agility
3.Vision

after those 3, what should a CB focus on?

(Stamina not included)

Strength? Strength is important, but not THAT important, tacklings more important than strength, and maybe confidence is too

I think strength will become important. Right now speed is important because all the WRs are pumping SP into speed and trying to stretch the field. But soon the trend will reverse itself - people will start to realize that strong, possession receivers will do well against the fast but weak CBs that people are building. So as trends in the game shift different attributes will be emphasized.

But really, if you watch the replays, a lot of big runs come on outside runs/pitches where the WR puts a good block on the CB. With a decent amount of strength the CB can break that block and make a plan on the ball and hold that outside run to a small gain or even a TFL. I figure strength is pretty important in terms of run support and helping out the team.

Im pumping my Strength up right now, hoping that it will help me hold down possession receivers. Plus as seminerddd said you can break a block with some strength, and it helps tackling without having to pump points into it

Train strength, maybe put a few points into it, but that is it. If you are having to make that many plays in the running game you are not the problem, your front seven sucks.

After speed, agility and vision I would say stamina, catching and then strength.

stamina, catching, jumping, confidence

apt to change though as the "thinking WRs" pump points into strength.

Speed, Agility, and vision are key with stamina becoming more of a factor the more PT your guy gets. What are your viewpoints on confidence as a CB? what do you think is a good number to get to, and how much would be too much?

If he gets beats deep, or misses a tackle, and doesnt have any confidence, its going to happen again, and again, and again.

If he has confidence, it won't effect him

1) Speed (too many fast WRs for this not to top the list)
2) Vision (helps a LOT with PDs)
3) Agility (should be 2a, but I'm a Vision whore)
4) Stamina (gotta be able to breathe to play)
5) Confidence (I severely underrated this skill before, working on it now)

Jumping and Catching are nice also, but those are my top 5.

I believe confidence should be more important for CB's than any other position, minus QB. This game is supposedly built on real life properties of the game, and for CB's, confidence is #1. That doesnt mena it should be your highest stat, thats a bit nuts, but it should hold importance for any solid CB build.

Jumping I believe is overrated, a fair amount is good, too much is a waste. Same with catching. Stamina is a must, just cuz you can play 60 plays means nothing, its how effective you can be late in the 4th quater. Stamina is like a boost to all your attributes cuz it keeps you from losing effectiveness late in the game. Play the #'s.

I agree with most of that. However confidence for a CB is over rated if your talking about real life. As a CB in college it was all reaction for me. You don't have enought time to think how fast a guy a guy is. The coaches put you in the right place. You are trained to put the last play out your mind.

As for GLB if your on a bad team train alittle on it. If your on a playoff team get it to 18 and let it be.

I dont know man, I dont think your right at all. Confidence for a CB in real life is overrated? Heres an example:
07 Playoffs, NY Giants CB Corey Webster, was even benched and deactivated during the season because his play was less than stellar and people were talking bust for the 2nd round pick.

Come playoffs he got activated and had to face the following WRs, in succession, Joey Galloway, Terrol Owens, Donald Driver, Randy Moss. Yea. And he played extremely well and those recievers didnt do much. The kid stayed positive and never got down on himself. He even made an interception on Brett Favres last pass to give the Giants the ball in overtime and send them to the SuperBowl.

I dont know what your talking about, but I know NFL Football, and all the coaches ever talk about when it comes to Cornerbacks, is confidence. So I definately disagree. College is one thing, we're talking pros here.

Point taken, great point. You used as an example the Giants so big points. Over rated was a bad choice of words. "Not as important" as a QB or Kicker, or even an OT.
First of all what is said to the press and what is said in the locker room is very different, and only the head coach speaks. He may only know have the story. The position coaches are who you talk to everyday. Webster was not playing well in the season. Who knows if he was playing hurt or not. And he didn't get down on him self he had confidence to get off the bench and play. To make it to that level everybody thinks they can get the job done if they get a chance. A second round pick out of LSU has all the confidence in the world.

But as I said before your only as good as your team, if you team is doing well what do you need it for, If your team sucks put a point into it.

But your point is well taken!
