WESTERN CONFERENCE:

1. Chicago Hedgehogs vs. 8. SOUTH GEORGIA GROWL

A recap of their last meeting:
In a 47 to 44 showdown similar to Arizona beating the Packers, the GROWL pulled off the impossible and took down the undefeated Hedgehogs. Chicago took the second half off as the GROWL pounded away to take the lead and the win.

2nd and only inches with only 36 seconds remaining on the clock, Jim Bob Cooter makes GROWL history with this pass http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=915592&pbp_id=17522155 “I saw Tidwell heading for the endzone and thought this was our only shot. So I put it up there and he did the rest.”

563 total yards of offense for the GROWL with 409 yards coming in the air; the GROWL came to play. Did Chicago? With the scores the Hedgehogs have put up this season, it’s hard to tell what happened that game. Were they lost in scrimmage play and overlooked the GROWL?

Jon’s take on the game:
The Hedgehogs have destroyed everyone that they have played, much like the GROWL destroyed their perfect season. Chicago was rolling in that game before they seemed to go into deep sleep and forget about finishing off a team that was hungry for a win.

I have a feeling the Hedgehogs won’t be overlooking the GROWL this time around and they have a score to settle. I have the Hedgehogs winning 55-17

4. New Jersey Battalion vs. 5. Bortsville Mystery Nerf

A recap of their last meeting:
The Battalion spotted the Mystery Nerf 7 points to start off the game. Then they rolled them up for 17 of their own before closing out the quarter. The Battalion never looked back. They kept the pressure on and just poured on the….Field Goals?

The Battalion won a solid game, but they didn’t put the Mystery Nerf away or scare them too much. They’ll need to focus on getting those Field Goals turned into TDs if they want to hang with the big boys! Bortsville turned over the ball twice and that was costly, but that could be avoided and turn this into a slugfest.

Jon’s take on the game:
The Battalion is no joke and they can play with the best of them. They challenge everyone they play and it’s hard to see too much of a different outcome. Then again if the Mystery Nerf didn’t have those two turnovers, it would have been a lot closer.

I see the Battalion fixing their offense and putting up a stronger offense in this game. I see the Battalion winning 51-23.

2. Minnesota Marauders vs. 7. Austin Longhorns

A recap of their last meeting:
The Marauders and Longhorns played an epic battle that was extremely close. Outside of a couple of big plays, it was a defensive battle that left both teams watching as the minutes ran out in the 4th quarter. A short 9 yard run in the beginning of the 4th was the only scoring… http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=915617&pbp_id=16557755 Dominik Peterson carried the team as usual, but that run sealed the deal for them. “When I got to the line of scrimmage their strong safety was coming up fast, but he missed. All I had to do was beat the corner flying in and I wasn’t about to be stopped.”

A great game by both teams and sets up for a great first round match up. No one is safe in this game!

Jon’s take on the game:
The Marauders have had some narrow victories down the stretch and at no point really looked like a dominant team. They will have to be on point for this game. Their only loss comes from Chicago, but with so many close games; they could have problems in post season play. Whereas the Longhorns have had a horrible second half of the season.

This will be a battle for sure, but I just don’t think the Longhorns can turn things around. I see the Marauders winning 35-14.

3. Summer Rental vs. 6. Corpus Christi Illegal Aliens

A recap of their last meeting:
Summer Rental came on strong at the start and finished off CCIA slowly with a rough 3rd quarter. They didn’t put CCIA away and it could come back to haunt them if old sly found a weakness. Of course one play has probably haunted CCIA for a while now… http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=915508&pbp_id=10901018 a locked up screen with the LDE all over him, but no one could bring down Sudarshana Chakra. “Yo I just got the ball and went to work; they sent all those fools after me and they couldn’t touch me. This ain’t flag football!”

CCIA tried to air it out against Summer Rental, but Cowboy Hero was dropped 9 times. This could have been part of the problem, but they still were able to put up 272 yards on them. Sly may have found some weaknesses since CCIA closed out the season very strong.

Jon’s take on the game:
Summer Rental has done well this season and seems to win the games they need to, but not by a large margin. I’m not sure if they’re not focused or just getting by. On the other side CCIA dropped some games they probably should have won.

I’m picking this as my upset of the week. I believe sly will go into his cellar and not come out for hours and find that perfect game plan that gives them the win. I have CCIA winning 20-27.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

1. The Blazing Chocolate Turtles vs. 8. Vancouver Lions

A recap of their last meeting:
The Lions just could not get anything going against the Chocolate Turtles. An interception for a TD and a 62 yard TD pass made up for their only TDs. It’s hard to tell what the Chocolate Turtles could have really done since this was still back when they had problems with their Chemistry. No real rushing or passing for the Lions and a lot of miss tackles add up to a bad game for Vancouver.

Jon’s take on the game:
The Chocolate Turtles have looked solid since their lost to the Mist and don’t look to slow up. They have repaired their Chemistry and are firing away at opponents. This doesn’t look good for the Lions.

With the sudden gift of first place, I see the Chocolate Turtles winning 45-13.

4. Grand Haven Mist vs. 5. ***Official*** Footballguys

A recap of their last meeting:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=915655&pbp_id=9017992 that’s it, that’s the extent of the O’s offense in this game. Whether hung over from the night before or too busy Christmas shopping; the O didn’t show up. Nor did the D as they allowed the Mist to gouge them for close to 500 yards.

13 sacks from a FS blitz sparked a lot of conversation, but not too much could be learned from this game. The Mist owned the O, but they haven’t been that way with everyone. As strong as the Mist as played they lost a mysterious game against PSR that showed some flaws.

At the same time everything was going wrong for the Mist, the O took down one of the best teams in the East to close out the season. This is really setting up for a great show down.

Jon’s take on the game:
The Mist lost to PSR….I just had to look again to see if that was accurate, but they really did lose to PSR. Problem after problem occurred in their AI, but this was only the regular season; not the playoffs; a nice time to find these things out.

I see the Mist spending hours upon hours over the next day combing through their AI to fix the problem. I have the Mist winning 30-13.

2. South Otto Fragile Porcelain Mice vs. 7. Atlanta Purple Penguins

A recap of their last meeting:
411 yards for APP, but only 13 points? That hurts when you’re able to move the ball, but not produce. APP has had some problems with teams this season and well so have the Mice as they drop 3 of their last 4 down the stretch.

South Otto poured on the defense when needed and held APP to 6.5 rushing yards. Granted APP didn’t run, but they didn’t score too much either. The Mice look solid, but its time to game plan once again.

Jon’s take on the game:
The Mice have lost recently and know what it takes to win. They really came on against APP and should turn things around for this one.

I see the Mice pouring it on once again and destroy APP. I have the Mice winning 50-7.

3. Minneapolis Masterminds vs. 6. Over The Rhine Red Dots

A recap of their last meeting:
OTR had some Chemistry and some youth problems this season. They had to face off with the Masterminds early on and tried to make a game of it in the 4th. However, it was too little too late for them. The Masterminds had a solid game, but had to rely on 5 field goals for the win. They’ll need more than that for the playoffs.

The Masterminds somehow found a way to drop a game to the Fury, but still close out a solid season. They’re in the driver’s seat for this game, but OTR cannot be taken lightly.

Jon’s take on the game:
OTR has come a long way this season and is playing very strong right now. This is going to be a huge battle, but if you’re Kicker is on your top threats; are you really going to go far in the playoffs?

I see the Masterminds pulling out a late victory in one of the best games this week. I have the Masterminds winning 31-28.

Not sure exactly what Longhorns need to be turning around.

IF anyone veiws our games the last few days they will see that we were putting some feelers out on things and testing some stuff.

Our offense has not looked the same at all in any game, and there is a reason for that.

If that is true, you picked a bad time to try things out.

Good catch. Sorry.

The losing. You guys would have more wins if you'd cut back on the losing. That's what I meant to say.
