Yep, time to hang up the cleats for Eldorado Owens is retiring.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=244186

21,277 career yards and 17 yards per catch. 6.7 YAC yards over 12 seasons and 100+ catches per season.
12 personal trophies for receiving yards and TDs in 12 seasons make him one of the greatest in GLB dot-ball.
Never played below is level either.
Season 2 AA, seasons 3-10 in AAA, 11-13 in Pros.

TD's like this one in his last game today defined his career:

Unfortunately we just missed the playoffs this season, which brings his career to the end. Even with the decline he managed a 1K yard season to finish strong.

For the first time ever, I've opened up his build for anyone to see.

A lot I think had to do with being on a team that was never that dominant once we moved up to AAA. So we fell behind a lot, and had to pass a lot to try and catch up. Even this season, was having a terrible season while we were winning. Once we started losing, out comes the passing game, and my stats shot up again.

Eldo has been the #1 WR since his Rookie season except the first year he moved to a PRO team and he was the #2 WR that season. So he always started.

Having a high stamina I think helped him as he stayed in the games longer and was still fresh to pick up a lot of long TD's late in games when the CB's were all winded or in prevent defenses for cheap yards.

Keeping his speed to agility as what I considered a prime balance helped a lot. When it got to a point where everyone starts to top out on speeds, I changed his emphasis to being a speed WR to a possession WR with speed. Then worked on strength with the YAC attack, etc... SA's. This allowed me to break tackles for a lot of extra yards.

There was also a span on my team, where the power running backs were the whole craze. The strong I hb slam/Off Tackle was the craze. Problem was our hb was the elusive type. We had no power running game. So we made up for it with the passing attack, as we couldn't run at all. And since screens weren't working then either, it was all about passes to the WR's and TE's. Our other WR's were good, but nothing spectacular, and Eldo kept getting open, so the QB just kept throwing it his way. It was a hell of a season I picked up 5K yards in one season.

Anyway thanks guys.

Yea, I wish we could put a group together like we did for Snake River. That was one awesome group.

Eldo did ok after it disbanded, hope the rest of you guys did as well.

Nice career numbers.

When did you take jumping that high?

Its been awhile. About the same time I started taking jump catch SA. When CB's could cover me and I couldn't get seperation, I started seriously building up my jumping and that seemed to help a lot.

So probably pretty early on, around 30-40.

WR Fail. He was a season 1'er who didn't get into Pro until season 10? And after that WL started to water down Pro's? He played below the league level he should have. Play-off stats say it all- unremarkable play-off stats when he did make the play-offs which wasn't that often. That usually points to a team that has to pass to catch-up. Just my two cents when someone says best ever.
