So, for me this year my team competed in the official tournament, Air-Attack, Mid-Major, Silver and Halo's. I think that was it. We did pretty good and had a lot of fun which is the entire point. But I started to get headaches trying to figure out all the days when games should be scheduled and when they are going to overlap and saving dates for this tourney and that, and then I had a brain storm. We love playing in these I know more will come up as people think of creative things (i.e. Air Attack)

We are pretty nice and civil here in the Pee Wee land and I figured if anyone is going to be able to pull this off it would be us. I propose that we have set Tourney Types that play on specific days. Most Tourneys provide 5 days between rounds (official is a bit different). So what if we created 5 "classes" of tourneys

Each class would have a set day that games are expected to be played and you wouldn't be able to sign up for more then one tournament in each class.

For example:
O-Class: Day 3, 8, 13, 18, 23, 28, 33
- Official Tournamnet
R-Class: Day 4, 9, 14, 19, 24, 29
- Air Attack
- Special Teams Showcase (this is fake I just made it up)
L-Class: Day 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30
- Silver Tourney
- Copper Tourney
C-Class: Day 6, 11, 16, 21, 26, 31
- Gold-Silver Challenge
- Mid-Major
S-Class: Day 7, 12, 17, 22, 27, 32
- Halo's
- Joe Bob's Invitational

If Tourney Organizers could agree to something like this it would really be helpful to us who like to compete in as many as possible.

Pros: People know what they are getting into, schedule a random scrimmage on a day you previously agreed to and you forfeit. Tourneys should stay on time and not get behind or delayed due to scheduling conflicts.

Cons: Takes greater cooperation from tourney coordinators, Limits free choice of what you can compete in (like if a team only wanted to do Halos and Joe Bob's Invitational and not the others). Doesn't account for tourneys that start later in the season (Like the Air Attack did this season). Official Tourney would need to be on board with it.

Other thoughts?

I think your asking too much tbh. I don't like having a set time when I have to play a tourney game. I like the time to be up to the two parties involved.

This is for sure the best method. I was just trying to think of a solution for the problems I was facing this season and I am sure others were as well. At one point I was supposed to have 3 games played in a 2 day span to meet deadlines. (un)luckily, I got knocked out of one of the tourneys in the previous round.

Those are the bads of signing up for so many tourney's lol. Im not saying its bad, hell I like them all too. I would have to agree with LE on this one as I like to set my own dates up also. I'd hate to have to schedule a tourney game on a day that I would have to play say a Pee wee Power hour or Madmen out of my own league. JMO.

Good thinking thou.

all the tourny's should be flexible as to not have to have all games done by a certain day and to understand that the beginning of the season is the most difficult time to get all the tourny games done b/c everyone plays in the first round, opposed to the later rounds where fewer teams play. we often tend to forget we have all that time for the playoffs day 32-40 to schedule games as well and thats when the championship games should play. as long as those first round games get finished by day 8, half the teams in the tourny's will be out and will make it easier to schedule the rest of your tourny games.

Take the air attack tourney for example. When I set that up I need a good few hours. I have to change so many inputs and outputs for that tourney. I know I could make an entire different AI just for the air attack, but I dont trust the changing AIs as I have got burnt by that before. If you had to play a league game 3 hours after the air attack or even before you would be screwed IMO.

The key is to limit how many you enter

The OP doesn't include the Tournament of Futility.... as such is undeserving of serious consideration!

I had a similar idea of having a tourney committee, but I don't think teams should be limited to the number of tournies they wish to be involved in. But having a group communicate with setting up and scheduling the tournies would definitely be cool.

The Gold-Silver Challenge is only 3 games and doesn't really have a demanding schedule and the Mid-Major tourney is being scrapped next season, so that should make things a little easier on some teams.

We have the ultimate committee but that stopped meeting unfortunately. I would love to turn that forum into the tournament committee, but some people that would be active would need to show up.

If Tournaments (who has the power to schedule games) can't keep a tournament on schedule and confined to predetermined day's, then no 'committee' will have any chance!!! ....sure you can come up with your idea's and schedule, and then the season will start and all the BS will fly out the window.

If you don't want to have to gameplan 2-3-4-5 days in a row, DON"T ENTER 3-4 tournaments!!!!

Alternatively, tournament organizers who don't want their tournaments slowed down by teams who don't have free slots to schedule games can feel free to deny entry to teams who are already in multiple tournaments (i.e. teams in this tournament can only be involved in X other number of tournaments, and must not fill their schedule up with meaningless test scrims].

or..... we can just do what we do now, and teams who have to gameplan a few games in a row can just harden the fcuk up!!!

lol I had a few days earlier this season where I had a league game at 3pm, tourney at 8pm and 6am the next morning. Good thing I have an 11 month old and don't do anything that with other advanced adults.

advanced adults are overrated, and always resort to acting like infants eventually anyway!

+1 Our move to Gold vastly decreased the number of tournament games we play. It gets to be too much of a workload and too confusing.

I pretty much gave up tournaments to try and figure out how to beat these jerks in Gold. Last season (pretty much the worst sim season ever for Pee Wee because of the passing game) we were one loss away from falling back to Silver. This season we are sitting in fourth with a chance to still make playoffs (three really good Gold teams left on the schedule), so the only games that I was interested in being involved in were private non-ranked scrims so that I could fix holes in my game.

You pretty much just need to decide how many tournaments you can commit to and hope that you don't have to forfeit.

But I do encourage teams to get in as much competitive gameplay as they can from these tournaments. Sure it gives your opposition more to scout, but it also gives you the chance to see what other teams are doing and to help you improve.

I am -1 ing the OP because I don't like the idea of forcing games to be played on a specific day. Partly because some leagues play on day 2 and it gives the people who play on day 1 a level advantage and partly because I can't see all owners getting on board, which would mess things up for other owners.

Getting rid of the one scrim a day would fix many of these problems, as would removing the limit of three scrims being sent out at a time.

If you host a tournament you just need to post this type of schedule on the OP to let people plan ahead:

"Game One to be completed by day 7.

Game Two to be completed by day 11.

Game Three to be completed by day 16.

Game Four to be completed by day 21."

Adn then some sort of rule regarding scrims:

"I will declare who the home team is for each game. Home team must have a scrim sent at least three days before the final day to be played or the visiting team wins by default. Visiting team must accept the time offered by the home team or game is defaulted to the home team."
