How important is it? Im under the impresion that it helps if you want to cause fumbles, but, as it should be, fumbles are hard to come by against even competition, so why invest in strenght?

This is what I believe why strength helps a LB (not in any particular order of importance)
1. Helps to shed blocks. You will run in to a lot of blocking FB's
2. Helps tackling in general and especially the power HB's & TE's
3. Helps keep the RB from gaining extra yards
4. Combined w/ Monster Hit SA, the fumbles do come. ( I have 3 so far this year by adding MH & training srength)
Thats all I can think of for now.
As for ADEQ, I like something that would have +% Tackle Chance (It's called something like that). Or Monster Hit SA. If he's going to be a MLB, Defensive General SA
Hope this will help.

you have to get it pretty high to avoid it being such an advantage for blockers that you get pancaked, but youre not gonna have equal strength to blocking TEs or FBs. high agility is your best bet for avoiding blocks.

for the record 80 str/90speed/80agi/62 tackle and 10 in monster hit. Hasn't caused 1 fumble this year in Canada pro. I think 85 str and some FF pieces will do the trick.

It helps against blocks more than it helps with tackling. High strength/medium agility guys will force less fumbles than medium strength/high agility guys. The high agility guys will still get pancaked quite a bit, but missed tackles won't be a big issue. IME

This is true. High agility/high tackling/high vision is the best way to not miss tackles even against power backs.
Strength helps more when it comes to not being pancaked, and it helps prevent backs from getting extra yards after first contact is made on the tackles.
That is why CBs and safeties can still be decent tacklers with low strength.
Most people overestimate the value of strength and underestimate the value of agility and vision in the make tackle and force fumble roll.

For MLB's I always bring Strength to 74 ASAP and with level gains Strength should be close to 80 Natural by level 32 or so. Rage Kinard is right about needing a bit of everything to get a force fumble roll. To me I would never use EQ for Strength but i really love having a Strength MLB to tackle Power Backs and avoiding being pancaked.
It looks like your building a Strength MLB (Jay Imo DTD) And thats awesome. In the long run I believe Strength will do wonders but for forcing fumbles you need a bit of everything.
I have my Strength MLB' open at the moment if you want any ideas for your MLB
level 19 = http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1695918
I'm pretty happy with his build except for his height and weight. I can truly build a better version of this MLB with the new player creator.

I will say this, I know a MLB with
82 strength
72 tackling
75 agility
68 vision
12 monster hit
15 power tackler
that has 2 forced fumbles over the last 2 seasons

HE should try putting EQ on AGI for a few games, could be a noticable difference.

Words of wisdom right here.

Great info, thanks, Im not really building my LBers to force fumbles, so I thought strenght wasnt a great investment if it only helps in fumbles. Im thinking more of a sure tackler in the middle, that can reliably help in the running game, not the ones I have now, those are just for build practice.

My LB with 70 strength, 70 agility and 71 vision and 12 Monster Hit (Equiopment is in speed) has 2 FF this year. The interesting thing is that the last three years he has had between 5 and 13 FF a year (blowouts removed). I removed Power Tackler so I think that is the main reason, although he also moved from AAA to Pro which is sure to have an effect as well.

prolly more based on the move to pro
