I've been attempting a balanced FB, and it isn't easy. When comparing my build with others at my level, it seems that speed is what ups your rushing bar more than anything else. If your rushing bar is lagging behind your blocking, try adding some speed to see if that helps. If your blocking bar is lagging, add blocking and strength.

Strength is most important because it help rushing and blocking. I have found that speed is important.

It's hard to be balanced at first so I suggest that if you want a balanced FB that you work on the rushing part first because in the beginning just having high strength will make him a decent blocker. You will have to round him out later though to be a good blocker at higher levels. You've already put a lot of points into blocking though.

Vision is also very important for rushing and blocking.

Just curious, how important does anyone feel confidence is to a FB?

Hard to say really. My morale dropped towards the end of the season as the team slumped to several losses (Only went to ~86 though), but there was no real correlation between that and any change in yards gained. And even if there was, it's hard to say what came first, the chicken or the egg?

Anyway, I can show you my FB, which I'd say is relatively balanced, but more geared towards blocking.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=66867 (Will have it open for a couple of days)

Early on the high str (I got it to 45 very very early, and has only added a little since) was great for both blocking and breaking tackles, but as defenders caught up and put points into str/agi and skills like shed block it's gotten harder. I still block pretty well, but sometimes LBs shed my blocks and make a diving tackle on the ball carrier.

Vision is indeed very important, I noticed a significant improvement (Mainly in blocking) when I went from 22 to 28 or so. Next couple of levels I'll be putting points into blocking and vision, before maxing out strength.

However IMO it is very hard to build a good FB, because you need so many attributes. That goes for several positions of course; TE and Safeties spring to mind as well, but it's still true for FBs. Essentially you need the stats of a power HB but at least 20 extra points into blocking. And if you want to be a decent rusher you have two SA trees to put points into. However that's one of the reasons why I have two FBs and two TEs, simply because it's more of a challenge than many other positions. And because there are too few blocking TEs out there.

Confidence is currently my lowest attribute by far and I've noticed my FB hesitating before hitting the holes. I'm not sure if this is vision kicking in or a lack on confidence. I'm training it now and up it before the season ends. I'll post back and give the results.

just as important as a rb, they can't hesitate. Mine has ~22 for confidence and he barely hesitates (but has ~32 vision)

I've noticed the same thing. My FB will hesitate with an open hole right in front of him. Speed is 34, vision is 27.38, Conf is 16.64, lvl 19. Thx for the input!

I've only noticed the hesitation since the beginning of this season. He used to be a monster on 3rd and short. Its a little frustrating to watch warp stand there staring at an open hole.

Here's the build at lvl 16:

Strength: 41 Blocking: 39.01
Speed: 34.04 Tackling: 13
Agility: 27.5 Throwing: 7
Jumping: 10 Catching: 20.36
Stamina: 26.75 Carrying: 26.23
Vision: 26.19 Kicking: 10
Confidence: 14 Punting: 10

SA's

Blocking 2-2-2-1-2
Offense 2-2-3-3-3

If confidence has to be trained up for a fb then I might as well retire him. Points get spread way to thin as it is.
