Thoughts???

There's no one right answer to that question, because there's several different build types.

i'm just talking about pure receiving TE's, not combo or blockers.

Again, there's more than one path to building a receiving TE. Some build for tackle-breakers, some build for speedsters. Which direction you go impacts how high you take various attributes.

Well I'm gonna take my shot building my TE as a speed WR. My theory is very different than most as I believe in building separation vs. catching in traffic.

These are what I consider doable natural attributes for level 48. These are my goals at least.

Speed 80 (115 with EQ)
Agility 80 (for cuts and takeoff)
Catching 60 (I sure like Sure Hands)
Jumping 40 (cathing in traffic)
Vision 40 (cathing at full speed)
Confidence 35 (hasn't been a problem for me yet)

Per Larry's advice, I have 8 in Route Run and it seems to work nicely. I am also using Under Dog. My goal is to put a 20% vision hit to LB's then outrun and outcut 1-on-1 defenders to get open. I've had the #1 TE the last 3 seasons... averaging over 1,000 yards. Last game was my lowest stat game cause he was double covered almost the whole game (somebody finally realized he leads the conference in receiving yards) and he still had 4 catches for 35 yards or so.

I've seen some TE's survive in Pro and above by just outcutting their defenders with builds I'd never guess would be effective. The separation allows them to catch the ball in open space.

I think high catching is overrated and jumping is way undervalued. My TE is 6'5" and catches in traffic quite well with such low catching (but higher jumping). I still get a fair number of knocked away drops, but I just deal with it and will try to fix later with some strength, VA's.

I'm building a tackle breaking TE right now. Here's what he's on track for by mid 60 levels (all naturals):

Strength - 82
Speed - 68
Agility - 68
Vision - 61
Blocking - 48
Catch - 68
Carry - 68

The idea behind the build is to get strength high fast, taking advantage of the +.5 auto gain, and ignore speed and agility until he's in the level 30 range. Equipment would be used to supplement low speed. Save enough BT to have 3 pieces of AEQ, ideally 2 SA pieces and one break tackle piece. Lastly, invest in VAs that emphasize breaking tackles and making short catches (bruiser, YAC attack, posession rec, nerves of steel).

It's going to be a while until he's end-build...so I'll let you guys know how it woked out in 8 seasons or so...

Final caps for a REC TE, not a tackle breaker:

STR: 68
SPD: 77
AGL: 77
VIS: 61
BLK: 48
CTC: 73
CAR:68
JMP:61

Is that build possible? I hope not, or my TEs are way behind the curve. But those are ideal, if not idealistic, for a receiving TE. Going to have to pick and choose and sacrifice certain attributes over others realistically.

Tackle breaking TEs never played out well for me, luckily they convert to blocking TEs very easily.

My Lvl. 45 Recieving TE
Strength: 56.04
Speed: 100.74 (+23)
Agility: 70.74 (+3)
Jumping: 40
Stamina: 29.74
Vision: 62.04
Catching: 63.04

Route Running: 4
Sticky Hands: 6
Quick Cut: 9

Once I cap agility at 68, I'm not sure what to do next, thoughts?

Did you accidentally leave out carrying or did you not touch it? It should be at the 60cap.

Is it really that important?? I say that cause this was my teammate and he was a stud. I base lot of my build on him.

I'm sure I'll train it, but I'm under 20 at the moment.

Carrying? Yes. Do you not get knocked loose all the time? Only 16 carrying at level 50 is ridiculous.

He had 38 and 27 drops respectively in his last 2 seasons. Ouch. Yeah he needed carrying.
