I am thinking Ball Hawk and Long Reach?? Any other opinions out there?

BallHawk stacks with Clutch stacks with Rip the Ball. If your SS's build is balanced = Picks & FF's.

Depends if you play in a zone defense and if you're a coverage safety or a hard-hitter. My guy is coverage, and I'm a fan of Ballhawk, Football Genius, and Zone Specialist.

Power tackler is a must for hard hitters.
Ball hawk is a must for all SSs.
Entirely depending on the zones you play, zone specialist can be very good for either discipline.
For example, for one of the teams I DC'd I set the SS to a zone on the strong side deep from beginning next to CB3 so he ran virtually alongside the WRs as they ran their route, zone spec in this case isn't that helpful because the importance lies in keeping pressure on the WRs so they aren't targeted. However, if you're putting the SS for example close to the line on the weak side and having him run to a mid-field deep zone to prevent HB or inside slant WR routes then you want zone spec to compensate for the distance he has to run (and of course high vision so he knows whether or not to stop his pursuit of his zone and make a tackle off the line)
You should really ask your DC

Thing is, if you want to force fumbles, you really need to go all out (i.e. the attributes+the SAs+the VAs) . . . I don't think you really be an effective hard-hitter without heavily compromising your coverage ability until a fairly advanced level.

You are correct in a sense. Season 10 my SS had 3 INT's & 3 FF's
In season 11; he had 6 FF's. In season 12; he had 2 Sacks and 3 INT's.
In the two scrims games he's played in this season; He has 1 INT & 1 FF.
So your correct if you focus just on Hard Hitting builds & VA's you will see more FF's and probably just the opposite for a SS with a coverage build and similar VA's.
My SS is getting FF's & INT's. because of his balanced build. Not many one way or another but a pretty even balance between the two. I am excited about the new Rip the ball VA because it will help in the FF department without the SS having to have DT type STR / TKL.

I personally think teams will literally have to build their defense around rip the ball for it to be successful
but that's just a prediction based on the state of the sim and reading the VA

That's what I'm thinking. It would be interesting to see a defense constructed that way, but based on the success of past fumble-forcing builds I may not have the balls to do it.

If it works you will have more balls than you can carry.

I like the idea of Rip the Ball for a SS or FS. Out of everyone on the defense those two positions should be able to make the most of it. If the front two lines grab on to a ball carrier and drag him, the SS or FS will come in from the backfield and rip the ball out. I won't be able to test this theory out for a while though. Working on getting Powertackler up to 10 first.
