Stiff arm any use to a receiver???????

i cant imagine that it would since CBs almost always have more agility -and- strength than WRs.

Eh, I disagree. I think you could actually build around a stiff-arm piece and outmatch most CBs with a focus on agility and strength.

yeah, if you want to focus on that, but for your typical run of the mill receiver, its tough to top the 50+ strength and 90+ agility that CBs are running with these days.

What level CBs are you speaking of? I see a majority of CBs extremely low strength, with their major focuses on speed rather then agility.

The CBs who use Jackhammer.

True, however, there seems to be much more speedster corners compared to those shutdown corners. Am I wrong?

Most CBs have from 90-100 speed and will single cap strength by around level 45. It's very good for PDs once you have everything else out of the way.

Even so, stiff-arm for a RB is a power-back item, so wouldn't it focus on strength? Then you could match or slightly outdo the agility of a CB, and simply out power them?

Let me just break down why I'm so involved in the thread. I'm sorry to turn this conversation onto myself, but I'd rather not make another thread when this topic is already up.

I'm currently working on making a Power-WR, who can make the catch and work from there, breaking tackles. I just invested in a stiff arm piece, and now I'm unsure if I should upgrade it or not. And at this point, I'm questioning my build, and it's hard to find good advice. Trust me, I've searched.

Build open: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1660271

What am I doing wrong? What am I doing right? Would break-thru be a better investment? Or spin? Any and all help would be appreciated.

It's usually either something like 100/70+ or 90+/80+ (many even get agi to 90 also, myself included)

As for your build, I'd just have to advise that without enough separation your WR will never get the ball, thus never break any tackles. It's also difficult to break tackles without momentum so you have to worry about catching the ball in stride well. Spin is a very strong SA, but you need to couple break tackle modifiers with it. Basically your WR will need just enough of everything - speed, agility, catching, carrying, strength, then focus on SAs and VAs for breaking tackles.
I don't know what "just enough" is, and if I did I wouldn't tell you. Good luck.

You should also probably build toward caps.

I am just starting a Power WR and attempting this route:

Speed to 68
Agility to 68

Then train:
Catching/Carrying getting Vision to 48 with skill points
Carrying/Confidence getting Catching to 48
Confidence/Stamina getting Carrying to 48

Then just hoard skill points while training Strength/Blocking for 2 seasons, and take STR up to 68 somewhere after level 40+. Somewhere in there Catching would get to 60 and 5-6 points in FS and QC.

Hope it works!

I'm starting a Power WR

I'm going this route

Car to 72 (hello, nat level gains??)
Cat to 62
Speed to 72
Agi to 68
Vis to 62

Then spend the rest of my time getting STR to 68 and hopefully I want to roll two pieces of stiff Arm AEQ, although it has been very rare so far I'm still gonna try and hope.

Power WR's are FTW. Probably the biggest/best build you can have on a team. See my sig.
