HALIFAX-- The Haliblack Explosionaries retired Jeff Garcia's No. 7 jersey during halftime of Week 16's game against some non-CPL team at the Explodome.
The ceremony included a video tribute and a song performance by Band imo, the official CPL band, and close family friend to the Garcias. A check for the Jeff Garcia Scholarship Fund was presented to Garcia's hot Playboy wife (which means he's totally not gay, btw) from the Haliblack players. Framed jerseys were presented to the hot girl and Garcia's parents, Dr. and Mrs. Jeff Garcia Sr. The inscription read, "Son, Lover, Teammate, Forum Assassin, Lolmare, GLB Jared Leto, and most importantly, Shower Friend."
For the finale, Garcia's son, Jeffrey Ray Garcia III - also known as Lil - raised the No. 7 to the rafters of the Explodome. It was the first number to be retired in franchise history. Everyone in attendance received a card and lapel pin commemorating the jersey retirement, the highest honor a professional dotball team can give to a dot.
"This tribute by the organization was put together as a way to remember Jeff as a player and more importantly, as a pretty awesome poster," avgbrad, Halifax executive, said before the ceremony. "His jersey hanging from the rafters will be a constant reminder to everyone walking into the building the phrases 'no u' and 'Garcia 4 life'."
Garcia was banned from the game for unjust forum prosecution by clearly biased and power mongering admins. The team's game uniforms have had a black patch on the right side of the jersey since their first game back. They will continue to wear the patch for the remainder of their dotball careers. Not even Bort can stop them from wearing their patches.
On the day of the banning, Asheme the emo bear said, "Jeff Garcia represented the very best of the CPL. We all know Jeff was a talented and competitive player. But he was also one of the most respected members of the CPL, a valued teammate and a great asset to the forums. He will be greatly missed by the entire CPL family and fans around the world."
The former Nightmare came to the Explosion as a free agent. He signed a multiyear contract to form Halifax's new QB rotation with the great Elisha. He won the season 7 CPL championship and - due to the sheer awesomeness of his dot ability - won the first WL championship whilst being banned.
In addition to his on-field accomplishments, Garcia was known as one of the true gentlemen in CPL.
We'll miss you, Jeff.
