For a team that is primarily a rushing team, is it better to have a small playbook or a large playbook to keep opponents guessing.

If it is better to have a small playbook selecting plays that work the best, what is the best way to determine which plays should be cut from the playbook?

Scouting.

Some plays will work against most defenses, most of the time. Primarily all of the "Slam" plays, if you've got a power back. Beyond that, scouting is required.

If you've got an elusive back, hire an OC. Properly using elusive backs is an advanced feature of GLB.
