You can have a very high average on a very good team, however, there is a lot of truth to the thought that you need to have a good kicker is VERY true. To really have a good average your team has to attempt to kick any FGs inside of 60 yards.
Other than that, playing opponents with slow PRers helps because you get the bounce when you are coffin kicking and having good coverage lets you crank it up to 100 distance without a worry about them running it back down your throat if they do get a hold of it.
