Of course your main skill is Kicking, but why wouldn't Strength be your 2nd skill instead of Confidence? Think about it, Strength gives you deeper kickoffs and allows your kicker to hit FG's from farther away. Ya your PA and FG % might be lower than against someone who has Confidence as their 2nd skill, but a long FG might help you win a game.

By that same argument, why would a QB or TE or LB ever train Speed early?
Or why would a FS or SS every train Agility early?
While you take into consideration what skills might be Major vs Minor, if you limit your first few skills to your major skills only, you would be gimp.
While my kicker might only be in Pee-Wee, I took Kicking first but did go with Strength second. Had I gone with any other skill second, I would not have won this game...

Plain and simple: strength is not a necessity.
Plenty of kickers do just and do just as well on field goals without it.

I wouldn't ever train speed early on a QB or TE. It just doesn't make good sense when it has negligible effect on a QB's performance and a TE gets large natural level gains in other attributes. For a LB, the natural level gains are close enough that training speed at an early level wouldn't necessarily be hurtful.

I probably wouldn't.

If you're building to be effective early on, you're only going to hurt your build later in your career. By focusing on your major attributes first, you improve your overall build quality, far from making your player gimp.

That's just a blatant logical fallacy.

It's more a matter of the disparity between Major/Minor for Kickers... You get 1SP per level added to Kicking/Confidence until Level 22 and only 0.16SP to Strength, so optimal strategy is to boost up Kicking and Confidence early to take advantage of those gains as much as possible.
That being said, Strength is important for a Kicker, but only to a certain extent. I don't believe that 90 vs 60 Strength makes nearly as much of a difference as 90 vs 60 Confidence would. Plus you have Big Boot and Booming Kick VAs that help with deep kickoffs, so your Strength can be helped with those.

Not to beat you up too much, LostPeon/comeasur337 touched on everything that's wrong with the above post. To add several more points:
1. I don't ever recommend a FS/SS do agility early unless they need to be effective early
2. Any TE that does speed/agility early is a clueless builder or needs an effective Rec TE at less than level 20.
3. Note that on LB, the level up points for a major are .33 and a minor are .25. MUCH different than 1 and 0.16 for a k/p

You would have made that kick without working on strength. My Kicker went his first 5 seasons with less than 30 strength but he was still able to kick 40+ yard FGs and even a 50+ yard FG. He was able to do that because I limited myself to the Kickers Major attributes in the order of kicking, confidence and vision.

TBF my first kicker Grundle was terrible from 40+ until he softcapped strength.
OTOH, my latest Kicker Robotron: 2084 is doing fine without strength.
Really, IMO, it's too varied to know exactly how much of an effect strength has in any given build, and it does seem to vary from build to build. However, there's no good reason to do it before confidence, that's for sure.
