Bort's problem is how to deal with height/Weight

Allowing players certain amount of SPs to spend how they want is all good and well but he can't just let everyone choose their own height and weight, so we need to provide a GOOD idea on how to vary the Height and Weight of a player.

Let's see what we can come up with.

Post them here and I am sure Darkus will deliver any good ideas to Bort.

Based on initial assignment of SP or something with a small random of + or - X and based on position chosen.

For all of the following, please consider initial assignment the 'roll'.

WR with a terrible 'roll' in jumping and catching will have low height.
WR with a terrible 'roll' in speed and agility will have high weight.
WR with a great 'roll' in jumping and catching will have high height.
WR with a great 'roll' in speed and agility will have low weight.

Something along the lines of stats that are chosen will help determine build. If you pick strength + carrying, you will have more weight.

If you put lots of stats into speed and agility, it will drop your weight.

Why not just roll as normal, but lock all stats at the min for that position, then give us an initial 50-75 SP to spend as we wish?

Thus all someone needs multiple rolls on is trying to get an ideal height and weight, which really doesn't matter much anyway.

In the initial player creation, we are asked for the players first and last name, its in a specific box to type this into. Provide 2 additional boxes for height and weight and the min/max in brackets beside that individual position.

Thanks!

That is what I was thinking but i remember Bort commenting on the fact that people would still have to roll.

ok but what is to stop people from putting 70 inches ad min/max and 275lbs as min/max

or whatever they want, you can still end up with 1K players with the exact same height/weight combos, Bort doesn't want that

works for me

I always thought having a pre-defined weight that didn't change throughout their careers was stupid. Why not have everyone start at the min for their position, and have it go up proportionately with their attributes - mostly strength. I'm sure bort can come up with a decent formula so it can change like the scouting bars do.

As for height - just let people choose it within the min/max for their position - and have it part of the formula above. Agents can have more flexibility for their builds, knowing that if you choose a taller player, you will end up with a slightly heavier/slower player.

Use my idea for the stats, then use Avenger's idea for the height-weight, but force at least a 10 lbs separation between min/max weight and at least a 2" separation between min/max height. This is still a roll in a sense, but I don't think anyone will re-roll for 10-lbs and 2". Plus Bort could stop the scripting where it allows people to re-roll.

To curb anyone from remaking chars until perfect, implement a 10% flex penalty return when you re-roll a level 1. Might not be much, but it will add up for those who are trying to populate the ideal team.

so height and weight are determined AFTER you spend the SPs?

this added to Avenger's is actually a solid idea.

a small deduction of flex returned for an immediate retirement is the only hang up but I like it.

Too complex. I'm sure bort will only look at ideas that are simple and easy to implement.

What is wrong with the way its done now.I get about what I am looking for 90% of the time and it works. Why are you lobbying to change this now.

Another option is sub divide all positions into specific templates based on use and assign SP, height, weight by that. Just have the person pick which position, then pick which template form a drop down list and that's their pre-defined SP/height/weight settings.

For example, under the HB, you could have Speedback, Powerback, and Scatback templates. The Powerback would be short, heavy, and have SP's focused on power running. The Speedback would be in middle area of height and weight, with SP's focused on quick running. The Scatback would be the tallest and lightest with SP's focused on receiving.

Start with 2-3 templates at first, then as different player builds start to become popular, you could always add them to the template list before a season starts.

I still suggest only taking the SP's up a little on the templates and giving the players more initial SP's to spend to really customize their players.

This solves the rolling problem totally. Ya it introduces pre-defined templates, but if you give players a healthy amount of initial SP's, they can customize their chars.

As far as having a ton of players with the same builds, you might have the FoTM builds being very similar, but people will find uses for their players outside of the pre-defined templates which you just wont expect. The more templates you have, the greater the diversity of players.

I am not the only one, there are tons of people, I believe it is even in Epic.

Bort even likes it.

Rolling is a horrible drain on the server, some people roll their player for 2 days.(I have rolled one for 3 before)

When you are trying to get JUST THE RIGHT ROLL, it takes hours and hours.

Not everyone has low player standards as you do, for example when i roll a center, I roll for a minimum of 28 strength. This has taken me 19 hours of server strain.
