Found this on another site, so thought I would pass it along as the INsider benefits can definitely be baseball related. I tried the code, and it definitely did work. Now just have to wait for magazine to arrive so I can renew my INsider benefits

http://www.surplusmags.com/espn.html

Sign up there, use the coupon code "MPSESPN" to get the prices listed above.

Once you get your first magazine, you can use this page:
https://r.espn.go.com/espn/insider/renewtoinsider?addata=2009_MAGNB_OLD_CSV_INS_SPO to use the on-magazine code to active Insider.

Pros:
-4 years of ESPN the Magazine and Insider for a total cost of $3.44.

Cons:
-The magazine mostly sucks.
-ESPN might try to charge you eventually for Insider...you'll have to call and cancel to get a refund...but as long as you're getting the magazine, you can use the on-mag codes to reactivate your free Insider account.

I signed up.

I somehow think they would lose money if it was $3.44.

No. They're trying to artificially drive up their circulation so they can charge higher ad rates. Standard move.

This.

No magazine makes a dime selling subscriptions. They'd rather you take advantage of any deal you can so they can add you to their circulation list and drive up the cost of ad rates.

I used to get "the magazine" and it was solid. It's nothing like SI, but it is what it is.

The problem is that ESPN itself is the biggest bag of shit on television

Yea, no one reads sports illustrated and espn magazine these days. I'd love some insider. Might give this a try. It's necessary to read ESPN because EVERY SINGLE THING is insider nowadays. Unless all you want to read is box scores you kinda need it. It sucked not having it for NBA offseason as there was a ton of info going around. Luckily hoopshype rumor mill usually recapped important information including some insider stuff
