is this mostly strength, kicking, or some combination of the various skills? this is my 1st real kicker.

Strength is really overrated for punters and kickers. I've seen the best results following the typical path: KICK, then CONF, then VIS, and finally bring up STR and AGL together.

Don't forget Big Boot and booming kick to cap off.

vision is for accuracy strength is for distance...my kickers build is open if youd like to look at a high level one

heh, your kicker is a poster child for how worthless automatic is. Thanks for sharing the build.

Course I guess you could argue his success from 50+ is attributed to a 22 in auto...

22 Automatic and 3 missed PAT? You're my hero.

I've opened up my K's build. He's currently got the highest recorded number of 80+ yard kickoffs in a game, so at the very least it's a viable build (though there are things I'd do differently if I were to build another K; among other things, he wasn't slow-built at all).

Anyway, you can see his build here: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=100566

Impressive BB and BK I guess. Kicking and Strength isn't as high as I thought it would be. I'll definitely go to 5cap strength.

Yeah, his natural strength is only just 3-capped. I spent points in kicking up to 7 or 8 SP/point, which is something I probably wouldn't do again if I were to make another K. His stats are overall lower than they should be, because he wasn't slow-built at all and I didn't have any real plan in building him. It's definitely possible to make a much better distance kicker than he is.

By the way, his BB could be even more impressive; it's actually the only SA he doesn't have maxed out naturally. It's only at 8/10. Doing it again, I'd skimp on Automatic (seriously not impressed in the slightest with it... 15 automatic and he still misses PATs entirely too often) and focus on BB and Calm Nerves. Wouldn't take any +Automatic AEQ, either, like he has.

Really?

That's interesting.

My experimental Punter which is primarily Strength based (92 strength, 62 punting) has the second highest punting average in his conference despite being partiallly under-levelled (signed as about L17 in a L24 cap , currently L20 with all the other top punters around l25).

Your punter appears to be the fortunate recipient of circumstance. You only have 3 TBs in 57 punts with a Vision of 13. That means youre punting from your 20 all of the time and taking full advantage of your strength without the many drawbacks your build has.

My level 7 punter has 4 more natural punting than your level 20 guy too. Enjoy this guy while you can!

Do come back as he levels up to let us know how the experiment goes.

Well he seeems to of been near the top of the averages every season in various teams often outlevelled so I guess thats a lot of fortunate circumstances.

In his first season in the pee-wees, the team owner benched him in favour of a standardly built punter who put alll his points into punting. Guess who had the better average?

The only point to him was to try and see how much impact strength would have to help decide how high to take my slow built kicker (I did a similar experiment with a kicker but that didn't work as well),

You're not the only agent who touts strength, I've just seen very few builds where it works. Like I said, please keep us up to date. I'm always interested in things like this.

BTW, sent you an invite to the Strong Leg Pub, stop by and check it out.
