On my Pee-Wee team, I use a 4-3 base Cov-0 as my base defense. All WR's are covered by CB's in man and the MLB covers the TE. The OLB's are in a flat zone and I blitz the safeties from the sides to stop the outside run.

To keep things simple, lets just address 2WR formations for now.

Problem is I have yet to find a good spot for the OLB's and SS/FS so they don't get double blocked or interfere with each other. I recently got spanked by a gold team because they were constantly out of position and didn't take good angles on the ball carrier.

I first tried pushing the OLB's out wide and pushed the down to the LoS, and stacked the SS/FS just above them. I thought the OLB's would run straight to the flats to cover the pitch/sweep run paths and allow the safeties to run right in to stop the hand-off/off-tackle run routes. Problem is that the OLB's paused on run routes to see where the play was heading, and this blocked the safeties from coming in quickly. So this setup didn't work.

I next tried pushing the safeties out as wide as possible and brought the OLB's away from the LoS some. Problem here is that the CB often blocked both my safeties and the WR as the same time, thus allowing many outside runs.

Now I am trying the safeties just inside the WR and returned the OLB's back to the LoS. Waiting for next game to see if this work.

However, if anyone has any ideas as to where the best spot to put the OLB's and SS/FS so they have the best angle on an outside rusher and not be blocked or interfere with another defender.

I'd run the 44 a bit if possible. (Just remember, no SS playtime in the 44).

Try setting both OLBs to a flat zone. Start them out just a bit outside the OT on their side, and about 3 yards back from the LOS.

I don't have much experience with pee wee tactics, but it seems like this may work. It's a bit different than high level rushing QBs, because you'll have defensive dots with enough vision and speed to actually make some plays on the QB before he heads upfield.

I ran out of flex points when creating my team, so I don't have the man power to run a 4-4 this season, but it might be a good idea for next season.

Thing I have noticed about sending the OLB's to the flats is that they make an initial step or two on runs, but then stop to read the run. Thus on running plays, it's more where you start them that seems more important.

With the lameness of the passing game, just put your SS/FS in a cover 2 deep zone. Use a 3-2-6 dime or quarters and blitz all cb's. If the team only has rushing qbs go cover 1 and blitz the SS too
