The sport is evolving and DEs have pretty insane speeds now. Some I've encountered have speeds of ~ 40. Thus, I feel it is VERY VERY important for an OT of BOTH ends to have lots of agility speed as well. The LT is usually the pass blocking Tackle, but I've seen cases where they line up the fast DE against the RT (as he's usually slower) to get a better matchup.
If a DE has 30-40 speed, then that means he is building at the expense of something else, and the result is lower strength (~40 or so) or tackling. Therefore, if you're an OT, I expect you to have at least 25 or so Agility and about 20 or so Speed. As long as you have strength and blocking to match, then you should have no problem protecting your QB.
Also, having a decent amount of Vision would be good too, as some plays call for the DE to drop into coverage and the CB to blitz. Tackles need to pick up on this so that they don't give up a sack.
Any thoughts?
