So, most WR's seem to enjoy boosting their Speed to ridiculous levels while neglecting Agility, Vision, and maybe most importantly, Catching. The way I see it, there's no point in having 60 speed if your catching is 25-30. You're going to drop a LOT of passes. I think by the time your speed hits 50-60, your catching should be in the 35-40 range. I've had success with this despite really low confidence at the time.

Also, does anyone want to comment on First Step and at which point it becomes more valuable than speed?

We tested out playing CBs at WR in a scrimmage. Even though their catching was 15-20 points lower than the WRs, there was no significant difference in drops.

Catching is overrated for WRs.

Speed, agility, and vision is where it's at.

For science sake, was your QB in the experiment that awesome perhaps? Or would that even matter? How many games did you try it for? Was there a difference in vision(as I hear that affects catching ability as well)?

As I have a lvl 1 WR and am going for the possession style, perhaps I'll focus on vision and agility. I have toyed with the idea of upping strength, to break tackeles and get my beloved YAC.

But perhaps it is all moot right now, and with catching not being that important possession style WR are not needed.

Strength is great...I've even got a few pancakes right now. Train it only though.

I dunno about catching, I noticed a significant decrease in drops after raising catching like 5-10 over the course of the season. Though, that could be the QB getting better too.

The way I handle catching is if I start to notice an increase in drops, I add a few points....

I will say this I had 32 catching, then reworked my equipment takinf points out of catching and into speed and agilit, dropping catching down to 28. I went from dropping 1 pass every 3 gaes to 1 pass just about every game. For now, I'd say 35 is about right.... for level 12.

FYI - I play in South America Pro.

Yea speed is better because its much easier to catch when you are wide open. No point in having 45 catching if you cant get open it will just get deflected everytime.

If you ask me, at the lower levels there's no real such thing as possession or speed. Everyone is somewhat awful at everything, and until you reach about level 25-30 is when you truly branch off, as you'll have the necessary physical attributes to adequately perform.

anyone put strength into their WRs to break CBs tackles? My strength is at 20 right now, and I am wondering if it would be a complete waste to train it any more.

I think that the way the game has developed to this point, strength isnt as important to a WR. I have almost 20 with mine, and thats prob. gonna be good for a while.

If you are a speed build you have to have higher agility and vision to be able to find and adjust to the ball while running. This could not only help yourself, but also make the QB look better. That is a factor on the speed builds, how well the QB build is for that team.

incorrect, I have 20 strength, and other on my team (WR's of course) have around the same strength, if not higher... and we break a decent amount of tackles with it

i'm not saying it isn't good to have. just that around 20 is a good amount. other stats more important.

As far as catching goes...I have a level 16 WR, in two seasons, 25 games I have 23 drops.

My catching stat is at 28 and I haven't raised it in for a long time. I get between 0 and 2 drops a game no matter where my catching parameter has been.

I started training my strength in the middle of this season and noticed more broken tackles and more YAC. I think strength is an overlooked component for a receiver.

Also, don't forget about carrying. Once you've caught the ball, you become a running back and need some in the carrying stat as well.

i agree its a good thing to have some strength, but you dont have to go hulk with it. Im a LV 17 WR and my strength is only like 15 and i still get the job done, but still in yet i think that i wouldnt hurt to have a little more.
