Our team has a "player development specialist" who is telling me to put more confidence into my 60+ defensive ends. Both have 48+ confidence, and they never end a game with less than 95+ morale.

I'm just trying to get some " second opinions" on the importance of confidence for a DE, and what a decent number is.

Thanks, in advance, for any advice.

Someone made a best guess at how the Bort code work, and posted in the forum that confidence is a variable that contributes to every factor of the game. This may be why your expert is telling people to up them.

Not sure how it works for DEs, but it did wonders for a LT I had a few years back.

I remain unconvinced that the difference between 50 and 60 confidence leads to a noticeable performance improvement.

I agree. I notice a huge increase in performance when I hit 48-50 really made me elite. I don't know if I would put it to 60 though.

My lvl 65 DE only has 43 in confidence and it doesn't seem to negatively effect him at all. I wouldn't put any SP's in it.

If he is weak as crap, or low in tackling, than yes confidance helps more. It helps raise the lower limit of "screw-ups" for lack of a better word/phrase.
I see it helping a lot more on O than D right now.
But, I do know of folks with LB's or secondary (or weak DT/DE that get pancaked) not getting as negatively affected.

If you do look at summarys of games, usually the o side is more impacted regardless of confidance levels...
