I haven't built a Power HB since season 3 and was thinking about building one this offseason.

I was thinking something like this:

Str-77
Spd-77
Agil-77
Car-68
Conf-48
Vis-48

to start, then rounding out build

also 0-0-0-0-0
and 1-1-1-11-1

No points in stam, jump, catch

jump is needed.

Those are your caps, or ultimate goals for each attribute?

i don't like it. Mainly because you don't need THAT much strength (mine gets by great with 73), you need more carrying, and you need more points in your Power SAs (specifically Lower Shoulder). And you need to at least softcap stamina. Train it to that point obviously, but stamina plays a huge role in your ability to continue breaking tackles and survive playing power football for a whole game.

Points in agility are going to be wasted beyond the 3rd cap, and it's debatable if it's even worth taking above the second cap. I'm not here to debate though (I doubt anyone with any significant experience with a high level HB would even run across this thread).

Strength 77
Speed 77
Carry 68

all agreed

Vision only needs to get to 40 for short yardage monster, anything more appears to be a waste.
Jumping isn't needed, but it's something to train once you're in your 60s and your build is p much fully functional. Train it with catching if you want, or with stamina. (Just not vision, lol) You also might opt to train out stamina/confidence once both are capped (yes, stamina should be capped). It definitely benefits when you are playing at the higher tiers of competition (even if you aren't outleveled) and trying to carry a workload. DON'T underestimate what even shitty LBs and their SAs can do to your morale over the course of a game.

Also, really? No love for SAs? I would completely abandon your current AEQ plan and just go for two +% Break Tackle Chance pieces, while dedicating 99 SP to getting base 5-10-10-10-0 in the Power tree.

What about VA's? Bruiser, SYM and Steady Grip?

Those are the top 3, yeah. After that I would dump 1-2 points in Goal Line Back and then start on taking Clutch or Red Zone Freak all the way up...

Tenacious just got switched to give bonuses versus wrap up AND balanced, so that's something to look at.

I agree that 3rd cap agility is max, and would definately trade down to 2nd cap to get SAs, if that's a quandry for you.

Really, the powerback SAs are completely awesome.

As I said, I haven't had a power back since season 3 or 4, and the sim was quite different then.

So:

Str-77
Spd-77
Car-68
Agi-60/68

4 most important attributes?

Then:

Stam-48
Vis-40/48
Conf-40/48
Jump-train
Catch-train

Then go very SA heavy?

That seems like it would be very doable and wouldn't take too long.

I just ran the player builder....

Str-77
Spd-77
Car-68
Agi-61
Stam-48

Took me until level 54.....

HB (naturals):

Str-85.64
Spd-81.64
Car-69.64
Agi-63.64
Stam-49.52
Conf-41.64
Vis-27.64
Jump-27.52
Cat-17.52

From here on out I'd go all SA's?? Realistically I'd like SA's before level 54.

Also, would all equipment go into strength or would there be some kind of balance?

Hey, mathematically speaking if you want to optimise your build for his last couple of seasons of play, you have to wait on those SAs.

BUT, if you want to have fun, it wouldn't hurt much to start putting some points in here and there after lvl 32, you know?

Maybe: Str and speed to 68, agil and carry to 60, training stamina confidence vision, and have some fun with some SAs.

It's up to you how strict you want to be.

I like splitting eq with strength and speed

that is like 100-105 SP difference from what I did, which is actually too much imo.

Plus that leaves your 4 most impt attributes too low, which makes no sense.

I agree with most of the advice and all i would really add is agility is being underestimated. Many broken tackles bring your HB near to a complete stop. In order to get started back up again before another defensive player arrives you need solid agility.

You don't need 77 strength, stopping ~70 and taking agility to 68 would be a much better use of SPs.

no no! I don't mean leave them there, I mean set a preliminary target, add SAs, and then go back to pumping up your skills to your target levels.

Nottom, I don't think 70 is enough strength for a powerback, but, each to his own :-)
