I've always been a giant hockey fan, played for 12 years myself, and I was wondering if anyone else is a diehard like myself? Football always came second to me (watching wise, it was 3rd in my book for playing, hockey and lacrosse always ahead) and I love the flyers like they are beer. Who is your team? and if you say Pittsburgh you better be a Pittsburgh fan from the 90s because they are pussies now.

Ugh, Winter Classic @ Fenway??? You lucky bastard! had a chance to see the Wings at Wrigley Field against Chi but ended up not going. Will forever be on my Top 10 things I never got to do for as long as I live.

LOVE/LOVED Detroit Red Wings ALL my life... even when they REALLY sucked. Steve Yzerman, The Captain. I was sold from day 1. Plus my grandfather used to play minor hockey with Gordie Howe and he also died watching the Wings & Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada. We are originally from Canada & the Detroit area so Hockey has always been and always will be a way of life. ALL I know is Hockeytown! I played hockey myself for 25+ years. Refffed some. But, now I Coach (Yes believe it! I am molding young minds... God help us all!) and run clinics. I can honestly say I like coaching almost as much as I loved playing! As far as football goes, it will always take a back seat to Hockey & Soccer when it comes to playing and second to Hockey for watching.

I have actually got to post a lot during the summer and even now in the first month or so of hockey... but as the winter goes on most of you (To most peoples delight...) will see less and less of me. Then when the playoffs hit? I will be a fucking ghost. I become a shut-it hermit with eyes ONLY for the Wings and their run at the Cup. At that point of the year NOTHING else matters. Some people say I have real issues... and they are 110% correct.

If I had to pick a team it'd probably be the lakers.

Red Wings!! ...although the season isn't exactly starting how I would have liked.

i played for like 8 years also. detroit is my team. went to winter classic last year in chicago.

Yeah, how the hell do they drop 2 games (That they were EASILY winning.) to the shithole Blues, yet beat the Hawks & Caps???

Maybe the Blues games were a wake-up call? Their Def. is too finesse. I hope they add some grit this Season and obviously another goal scorer w/ Franzen out.

Must have been amazing. Watching it in Chicago but NOT @ the game will never compare.
