Any value of having two pieces of break block to bust up screen plays? Have two pieces, +wall, +3% break block, and +closing speed, +2% break block for my lvl34 SS but thought i'd check before going with them longterm to see if anyone has already tried such a setup.

wall wouldn't help on screen plays.

It would probably help if the SS is up against WR's often... if he's hit with a solid blocking TE/FB/OT, I don't think he'll survive very long. It really depends on the SS's strength/agility. If they aren't at least 74agi/68str... I see problems most of the time. Regardless, the changes to screens as of late will probably make screens not a huge issue.

Look no further than the SS on the Wife Carriers. Toku is rolling +36% break block. He seems to shed TE blocks pretty well. Build your guy with 5-10 more in agility than Toku and you'll be golden. 61 strength seems to be the magic number for it to really work well.

I just rolled a First Step w/ +5% Break Block on my Hard Hitting Safety. Is that worth the 90,000 it costs or should I skip it?

That'll be worth $200.000 for sure.

First Step does A LOT for instant acceleration, while breaking blocks is the bread and butter for SS in run defense. Any well build run offense has the RG, the TE and the FB looking for defenders to block. With your SS reacting to the run early, he's likely one of the guys to get blocked. Now if you can't get off those blocks early, you're out of the play. And if you stay blocked a bit longer, you're likely to end up getting pancaked.

b.t.w.: the pieces in the OP are worth it too - just needs a DC that puts the SS up close to the line and blitzes him quite often

How would the SA "strong base" compare to a piece with a flat break block chance?

Horrible. I really think you should read the description for Strong Base SA again. That SA was designed for defensive linemen who frequently have 80+ base strength. For a SS, break block AEQ is >>>> Strong Base AEQ.
