Last week's #6 seed, the Tradewest Battletoads guaranteed themselves one of the eight spots with their win over St. John's.

Despite their loss to their cross-town rival Bloodhounds, the Thunder Bay Mules are near certain to get in...that is unless they somehow lose in their game against To the first point...

That leaves three teams vying for one remaining spot. They are...

In order for St. John's to make the playoffs they must:
a) Win.
b) Lose and Victoria & Labrador both lose.

In order for Victoria to make the playoffs they must:

b) Lose and St. John's lose & Labrador wins.

My guess is that all three lose and St Johns is in.

These appear to conflict.

You're correct. I knew I shouldn't have tried to do that in a hurry.

Unfortunately, my mistake isn't good news for the Retrievers.

The only scenario where St. John's, Victoria, and Labrador would all finish 8-8 would be for both the Salty Dogs and Crush to lose and the Retrievers to win. If that happened, there would be a three-way tie for 8th place. Since the three teams split the head-to-head matchups evenly between them...the next tiebreaker would be points scored. Victoria's at 1,459...Labrador's at 1,339...and St. John's is at 1,192.

It sucks for the Salty Dogs & Retrievers that the Crush got to play the Adriana Lima Beans (216-0) in the first game. I hate that the non-conference game and points scored factor into the equation before conference record.

Alas, the Retrievers won't make the playoffs unless (1) they win, (2) St. John's & Victoria both lose, and (3) they score 121 (or more) points than the Crush in Week 16. While 1 & 2 may happen, 3 won't...so, for all practical purposes, Labrador is eliminated.

IMO it should be overall record, then head to head, then conference record, then other stuff.

When was that first brought up? Season 2?

Just one of those Bortisms that never seem to be fixed.

Well, maybe we'll have enough in us to come back next season and try again. Either way, it's been a fun and most challenging season. I'm proud to finish even if we can do it.

Yellowknife finished even in our first season here. Nothing to be ashamed about there!

right on man. we only went 7-9 our first season here so we're happy to make the playoffs over in the East. Hang in there and you'll be right in the mix next season.

Not to crash your party but believe me.... CPL isn't what it used to be even 3 seasons ago when we first joined and it's not the murderer's row it was 4-5 seasons prior to that.
