I'm thinking of making the Pee Wee plunge next season. I see some key advantages in Pee Wee Leagues:

1) Players are useful right away. No wasting 7 seasons slowbuilding.
2) It's easy to recover from a bad season or a mistake.
3) It's easier to recruit since you can just create players as needed.
4) Less time needed for gameplanning?

Downsides:
1) A lot of non-competitive teams at lower levels (takes time to move up some)
2) Not as elite competition - (although with the hierarchy, some the Gold League looks pretty competitive).

What are the other big differences you've noticed in the Pee Wee Leagues?

3) It's easier to recruit since you can just create players as needed.in theory yes but most people have trouble, if you have the flex it is fine but have fun training
4) Less time needed for gameplanning?maybe for copper league and select silver leagues but if you enter any tournament, this is not true

Downsides:
1) A lot of non-competitive teams at lower levels (takes time to move up some)VERY true

As far as #4 goes, depending on your league, that can really vary from a 5 minute tune-up to a few hours adjusting your AI perfectly cause at Pro, you can't screw up any little bit. The other differences, is that the game changes season by season. Teams get more knowledgeable and set up new things eaach season, and with Bort's AI updates, there is always room for change. A downside, is the forums are very dead at times. Especially Copper, most forums are low to zero activity right now, and as far as your team forum goes, you really need to think of ideas to keep them active, because there is really nothing to do. That's as far as my opinion goes.

All of the above and funner in my opinion it's a good place to test your coaching abilities because you're never usually out-leveled so the best coaching and gameplanning usually wins.It is alot different than higher leagues tho as far as playcalling. You almost always wanna run the ball.(atleast 70%) and QB rushing is usually something you need unless you really know how to coach a team.

How is it not easy to recover from a down season? I replace my entire roster every season. If I tried something that didn't work, it's easy to try again. If I want to bring someone into the system, I don't need them to have a player at the perfect level to fit a hole in my roster, I need to just get them to create a player next season. The elite teams can't just milk the top players, they have to fill their entire rosters again too.

I really doubt that you would need to spend as much time game planning to be successful at the pee-wee level as you do at Pro. Perhaps at the top, an equal amount, but that's a worse case scenario.

I just remember the most fun seasons I had were Seasons 2 and 3. Everyone was on such a level playing field, and it seems like Pee Wee is a great way to do that.

Are the tournaments a big part of the league? Would I miss out if I didn't enter a tournament? If I made it to a silver league, is it fairly competitive?

silver is pretty competitive.

You have at least a 3-4 teams wanting to win to get to gold. Unless you are in silver #4 and have 10 teams trying to make it to gold.

Tournaments are just a fun and quick way show everyone what your team is capable of.

When I started PeeWee in season 8 all I wanted was to get my level 1 players up so I could join high leagues (americans/africa etc). It only took half the season for me to realize I would have way more fun keeping the team. I have 4 agents on my team this season that were on my team in season 8,... and 5 agents that have been with me since season 9. If we screw up a player build one season, ah well, try again next.

We have all become good friends with each other as well as good friends with other peewee owners. PeeWee is almost its own game on GLB and you wont find better people anywhere else. We have a Fantasy Football League with all our agents and other teams coaches this year. We only have 1 or 2 agents a season not want to come back.

My PeeWee forum is the most active forum of any team I have ever been apart of. (I started playing season 5)

It's definitely a solid brotherhood in pee-wee leagues and we don't have obnoxious forum trollers which is great. Most of the individual league forums are slow as mentioned but the main thread is very active. The best thing about pee-wee is the playoffs and tournaments. League play can be very tedious unless you're in the Gold League which by design is more competitive then any league in GLB because of the nature of starting fresh each season. There's no super players or builds from seasons and seasons of building guys, they're all on the same level and a proper strategy for the entire season is really crucial to your success.

You need a lot more active talent as you progress. The slope is VERY steep from getting together a Pee Wee team and making the final four in Copper, compared to making final four in Silver, compared to making final four in Gold.

Starting out you should be trying to scrimmage teams that are about half way up the totem in Silver. Watch a lot of Gold teams if they are playing crappy teams, because you will see where they are scoring all of their points.

Read the how to build a Pee Wee team guide stickied on the main forum, I don't agree with it 100%, but it will get you into the playoffs in most silver leagues (unless your playcalling is garbage).

Running wins blow-outs and wins the bread. Passes win close games. Most teams that can't throw a medium pass can't win the games that count.

My $0.02 = DO IT!!

You're mostly right on with your points, except i would say it takes just as much time to gameplan as in any league if you're doing it right, and while thee are lots of non competitive teams (and cpu teams) in copper, it only takes 1 season in copper to get to silver where its pretty competitive.. and if you think silver is NOT competitive then you'll win all your games and wind up in gold after 2 seasons, where I guarantee you will find competition.

In many ways peewee is its own little game within a game, and it rocks. Hope to see you around next season

if you can't get it the first time, odds are you can't do it again.

Hmm, I didn't know that. HHM lost by 2pts in the conference championship game in our first season, is it too late to sell the team back and hand back our trophies.

Its a learning curve like anything. You can have a horrible first season (and if you have half a brain) you can make adjustments to builds/tactics and come back and make a real run the next season.
