It's clear that jumping helps DEs get pass deflections on screen passes.

What I want to know is, will jumping help a DE get a sack from a larger radius away from the QB (since jumping helps make diving tackles)? I'm guessing vision would play a factor too in increasing the radius, should jumping help increase the radius?

if jumping helps diving tackles then I don't see why not

well, my perspective on this is that if you try to make a diving sack, you will always end up at the ankles, and i have seen QBs that can still make accurate passes while a defender is at their feet. but i dont think DE's try to get diving sacks, they want to hit the QB high and have a chance to force a fumble.

This plus I belive (though I could be wrong) the NFL put in a new rule during the offseason that makes hitting the Q.B at or below the knees a personal foul.

I'm sure that's first on Bort's list of new changes.

Was definitely serious. Jumping is a good attribute to train if you prefer sacks to hurries. A lot of DE's get massive amounts of hurries but take a giant dump for sacks, and that's because they're milling about at like 10 jumping.
