What? I'm building a Safety, and I want him to be the best, but I don't know how to build them that well. Please enlighten me on some strategies that should be used.

Well, I have never built a safety, but I have been here since season 2 so I think I can try to give a little advice. If you want to build the best safety possible I would suggest getting your speed to 68 along with agility before anything. Train strength and tackling in the process. After getting your strength and tackling to 62 I would work on vision. Some people may be higher on vision for SS than me. SS have a lot of attributes to work on, good luck building a good one. They are one of the toughest to build IMO.

Yeah, I've been around since S1, but I've never built a safety, I've built corners, WR's and just about every other position in GLB. But not a safety. I knew speed/agility were key, but I wanted to know what to do AFTER those were capped

I would go with vision before agility honestly.

yes agi is important, but because its a minor, if you are building for the long term, you want to at least cap vision first

some will even argue str before agi too, if you're a run stopper

depends on how long you can put up with your player sucking in low level leagues

For a coverage safety, I'd say the basic build plan is . . .

Speed to 68 (some like 73)
Agility to 68
Vision to 68 (some like 61, some like 73)
Strength to 48
Tackling to 49
Jumping to 49

Raising Super Vision and Change Direction.

I didn't really adjust that for SP-maximization, but if you've been around you probably already know how to do that. Most good coverage builds look like some variation of the above (at least, the ones I've seen ).

Agility for a SS is highly undervalued on GLB. Take a look at how often they change directions and tell me agility isn't that important. If you wanna build a stud SS Take speed to 73/Vision/Agility to 68 and Tackling/Strength to 60. That's money in the bank.

as I'm building my first SS now and I've taken notice of those that have been on my team, I wonder why agility is a minor skill for them.

it seems the best ones have high agility, whether coverage, balanced, or run stopping.

Safeties are a very difficult build. A FS needs to be very fast and agile in order to play over the top for the deep threat; and cover well in the middle. But at the same time be strong enough not to get run over by an open field tackle on the way to the end zone. But still have high enough vision to see the pass coming. Most of his turnovers come in the way of INT's.

A SS needs to be strong enough to help stuff a run and plug holes; but have enough speed and agility to handle those elite TE's coming across the middle, and also be quick enough to help the CB's over the top. But still have high enough vision to see the holes develop. Most of his turnovers come in the way of FF's.

So, the dilemma is do you build 'em stronger but still fast? Or faster but still strong? Is it possible to do both?

I think this guy has the answer.

By Level 48, a well-built two-way SS would have ...

(with equipment)

110~ speed
70 agility
68 strength
63~ vision
50~ tackling

... and depending on how you feel about them, a small smattering of SAs. For me, it's 22000, 22224. You could also drop an equipment piece from speed and put it into agility should you feel like it. Ideally AEQ in Super Vision and Monster Hit.

Almost the exact same build as my safety.
