Opinions on blocking?

Just had our first scrimmage of the season and the CBs just blew through our WRs on running plays.

whats your question? if a blocking wideout would help the running game? what do you think?

Not necessarily a blocking wideout. Just getting blocking up to a certain level to hold CBs for longer than 1/2 second.

Reason I ask... I have a HB on a lower level team and watching the replay of our first scrimmage was depressing...lol I could barely get outside the tackles before I had CBs all over me in the backfield.

My WR was on a team a few seasons ago where the coach wanted all WRs to have blocking up to 20. Just looking for opinions so I can help our team get better.

Um... Higher blocking will help block.

So... 20 would be a suitable level? Less? More?

I think 20 is decent and definitely better than 7. Though of course, more is always better, so its all about how far you want to push it...

What are the strength levels for the wide outs? Maybe that is part of the cause...

Teens to twenties. That is definitely a part of the problem, I already knew that. I just wanted to know what the average WR should look like in the Blocking column. But you are absolutely right about the strength.

Honestly, I have my strength at the low 20's and blocking at 8 and I don't seem to have a problem with blocking corners.
