Ok pals, I'm debating setting this up - I just want to get a count of the teams involved before I start getting everything together.

With the new Ranked scrimmage option, we have a way to indicate scrimmages as "serious". This presents some interesting opprtunities to get a real list of the best teams in GLB - that is not up for speculation.

What is the ELO rating system?

The Elo system was invented as an improved chess rating system, but today it is also used in many other games. It is also used as a rating system for multiplayer competition in a number of computer games[1], and has been adapted to team sports including association football, American college football and basketball, and Major League Baseball.

Basically, the ELO rating system would assign each team participating with a rating that increased/decreased based on whether you won or lost against a different team. In general, beating better teams is a higher rating boost - and beating weaker teams is a lesser one. I won't get into the math details, you can check wikipedia for that.

Basically, I'm looking to see how many teams would be interested.

There would be no level requirement. Although teams who are obviously not competitive relative to the teams involved wouldn't be eligible.
