I'm not quite there yet but was just wondering what people thought the best Veteran Abilities were to invest in for a return only CB.

Any thoughts would be very helpful.

agreed, especially after Bort nerfed the +1% VA's because whlie everyone else's builds took a hit, return men can laugh their way to the bank knowing their VA boost remains uneffected.

The Slippery VA is a good one for a CB returner also.

Don't get return specialist unless you have one of the spin, headfake etc. SAs

Yeah because the 45% bonus to vision REALLY sucks... Not to mention the terriblr 30% bonus to avoiding tackles

What a crappy VA......

From what I hear, your player can still "juke" even if he does not have any SA's. But like you said, even without the SA bonus, its worth having.

I am not disagreeing with you (or agreeing for that matter) but is there any confirmation that Slippery works on Special Teams? Or is there any confirmation that it only works on Offense?

Well the way it reads is that it interacts with the "running style" slider bar when it is set at least 50% elusive. Mind you; I only have 6 points invested in it so far. But, I do believe I can see a difference in the amount of missed tackles my return CB has noticed from last season.

I think considering that a WR or HB on returns has the spin, head fake and juke SA's; the slippery VA can only help a CB who has only the Return Man SA.

A CB can acquire all of the other SA's from AEQ; but it will take all of his career trying to save up the bonus tokens to equip them. The Slippery VA reads a 3% chance each level of breaking tackles.

Match that with a +3 agility with a 4% break tackle chance AEQ piece and you have a grand total of a whopping 70% chance of breaking a tackle on a return if that's 6 upgrades on the AEQ piece.

Add to that the bonus of the return man SA which reads a bonus to the speed, agility and "tackle avoidance" during returns and you have a bada$$ mofo returning kicks.

Remember that the 70% bonus to breaking tackles is 70% of your base break tackle roll, not an addition to it. Assuming your base break tackle roll is a 50, that 70% will make it 85, not 130%. And that's not an 85% chance to break a tackle, it's your break tackle roll that gets rolled against the defenders tackle roll.

Longhorn and Sooner fans can't agree on anything. j/k. I see your point Longhornfan1024. So I thought I would look at some stats from my returners 1st scrimmage game.

He had 2 KR's and 13 PR's in the game and 1 TD. 13+2 -1= 14 times he was tackled. In those returns he had 4 missed tackles and 3 missed diving tackles. That's a total of 7 missed tackles.

However, the 14 times he was tackled; 7 of them were normal tackles, the other 7 were diving tackles. That's 50% diving tackles. Now a diving tackle is where the defender has to dive to make the tackle in order "not too miss" you. (this might be the roll you were referring too.)

I don't know if this means anything, and like I said earlier; I only have 6 points put into the slippery VA. But to me; it sounds like something is firing.

Oh, I don't disagree with you that slippery is worth it, I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows that you wouldn't have a 70% chance to break a tackle. It's just a 70% bonus to whatever your break tackle roll is.
