what sort of roll should i be looking to get for a WR? (thinking about making a possession receiver, but want to try to get off to a good start)

I was always thought getting speed and agility at 16/16 to start would be good. Personal opinion, though.

Heck I would think just about any roll that gives you 8's in those useless attributes (punt, kick, throw, tackle) just about all the other attributes are going to come into play at some time in the season. Guess it just depends what you want out of your WR's roll... you want him having high speed right from the start (try to get 17, 18 or 19 even) you want him to have higher catching, then try for that. Just depends on how you want to start off before you get into training.

Here's what you want to do.
Figure out the order in which you want to train. Considering it's wisest to cap your major attributes before any others are messed with (pretty sure that's consensus, it's logical) you'll want to identify in which order they will be trained since you have to train before distributing SP to maximize training efficiency.

Majors for WR are: Speed, Agility, Jumping, Stamina, Vision and Catching.

Of course it depends on your build type.
I'll give the best example I can think of:

If starting from Speed/Agility you want:
8 in Strength, Blocking, Tackling, Throwing, Kicking and Punting
A 10 in Agility, and as high in speed as you can find.

If you're doing Agility/Vision after that (logical second step) you want vision to be as close to 10 as possible. Priority however goes to getting agility at 10.

If you're doing Vision/Catching next, you want Catching to be as close to 10 with priority going to agility>vision>catching.

Catching/Jumping then Jumping/Stamina follow to keep it cohesive and complete the majors.

The ending priority [to get majors (aside from speed) as close to 10 as possible) is agility > vision > catching > jumping > stamina.
That way each time you change your intense training routine you're assure that:
1. The attribute you've just trained is higher than the one you're switching to train so the route will never be compromised.
2. You won't run out of things to train or be forced into a normal routine early.

Another benefit of this plan is that it favors stamina and jumping being naturally high and in my experience raising them isn't extremely fun for a WR, but that's neither here nor there.

An ideal build could look something like this:

Strength: 8
Speed: 22
Agility: 10
Jumping: 13
Stamina: 14
Vision: 10
Confidence: 10

Other Skills
Blocking: 8
Tackling: 8
Throwing: 8
Catching: 12
Carrying: 10
Kicking: 8
Punting: 8

That's if you want to go all out anyway.
