How much catching does a HB need to be effective?

35 I'd say to not bobble excessively. The difference between a HB with 35-48 catching isn't much. I'd say that if you want to be a real weapon out of the backfield then go with 40 catching and 15 Scat Back.

Thanks for the reply. I figured 48 was too high so I'll get it up to mid 30's and go from there.

Yep. I'd go with 35. Very few drops even when lining up at WR5 and having closer coverage.
