Zone Specialist and long reach are personal favorites. But talk to your DC. If they plan on playing cover 2 you want as much zone specialist as you can.

I am the DC just new to the GLB and so far no one on the team has reached lvl 25, so it was never an issue.

If you ever get up to 50 strength, Jackhammer is most excellent.

Ball Hawk seems to work pretty well for my FS...

Ballhawk, Football Genius, Zone Specialist=Coverage
Jackhammer, Bruiser?=Hard Hitter
Sure Tackler=Both

That is just what I think though.

I thought I heard him say that too. Maybe he meant Helmet Crash?

Get that Strength up to 50 and invest in Jackhammer, you won't regret it.

jackhammer is only for tackles just after a receiver has caught the ball? how often would that happen? doesnt seem like good value to me

Jackhammer is a must for every SS if you ask me. You're looking at 1,2 or more times a game where it can kick in.

It creates a pass deflection if the receiver has just caught the ball and you're right there. The whole play results in an incomplete pass, not a tackle. This play usually comes up with a "Knocked Loose" designation on the PBP. And you think it doesn't happen often? If you're playing any type of man to man, you're going to (hopefully) be step for step with the receiver, which gives you a chance to knock the ball out. If you're in zone, it still applies. You're going to want to make the stop anyway, so Jackhammer gives you that extra boost to knocking out the ball.

Zone Specialist and Ball Hawk are your best options early on, then later on you can start investing in Jack Hammer/Long Reach and depending on your schemes Sure Tackler/Power Tackler/Helmet Crash is great too.
To me a SS is another coverage linebacker.
