I'm playing a heavy passing team tomorrow. My team carries 5 corners, all of roughly equal ability, so I just use the CB setting, not the numbers. However, against this heavy passing team, who regularly goes 5 wides, I want to put our kick returner in as a potential 4th/5th corner only.
Assuming I have CBs: A, B, C, D, E, KR...would the following depth chart setting make it essentially the same as running with just the CB depth chart, but with that guy in the 4/5 slots?

CB5 - E KR A B C D

I'd do that, myself. If you have it at 99/98, you don't need to worry about WHERE you place the KR, so you may as well place him last. If he's got the highest energy at that time, he'll go in regardless of where he's placed.

And, if energy is equal, you want your regular corners in, to save your KR for returns. No reason to tire him out if there's another CB available with the same energy.

Depending how the game goes, he may not see more than a couple snaps, unless they really drive down the field and eat up some clock.

I believe you are correct and thats how it should be done.

Why don't you take the #5 CB off the generic CB chart and plug him in on CB 5 and leave CB 1-4 blank? First 4 CBs will rotate based on generic chart and any time there's a 5 WR set, he'll be the #5 guy.
