I've got an MLB/ILB/ROLB. I want to know how valuable JUMPING is for him? I know it affects diving tackles (and diving tackle radius for certain types of tackles). He's not gonna be in much pass coverage, just pure pass rushing as RILB/ROLB and run stuffing as MLB. His SPD and AGI are taken care of, STR/TCK are the focus on intense now. As soon as I have enough SPs to start capping TCK, I will have to move to VIS for training as his is dangerously low. I can't train STR and VIS so I wouldn't know what to train VIS with (unless I just go with AGI or SPD to maybe get a +1 to one of those while raising VIS).

JUMPING seems like the only good option, but if it isn't even worth softcapping I'd be wasting potential SPs.

What do you guys think?

It is a shame that when a sack occurs, you do not know if it was a normal tackle or a diving tackle. Also, I noticed many times when the ROLB (especially when they have to run to the strongside to make the tackle) or MLB has to do a diving tackle during inside runs. With the new offensive plays coming out, many with new FB routes, FB's will become begin to become a greater receiver threat. With this stated, I believe Jumping is worth soft capping at some point in a ROLB/MLB/ILB's career.

If jumping is rather low you get good value from training it now rather than later.

I've had a couple plays where my SS and LOLB has jumped and knocked down a pass behind the line of scrimmage.

I believe Jackhammer VA does more than jumping but it is nice to have, my LB currently at 47

If memory serves me correctly, Jackhammer requires the receiver to pass the catch roll, and then a roll of knocked loose occurs. This is discussed in one of those recent "Knocked Loose" and its association to WR's threads in either the bugs or GLB forums. If this is accurate, jumping would not be a factor (or at least as major of a factor when compared to the attributes that contribute to a PD).

Jumping helps with:
1) Diving Tackles
2) PDs
3) Interceptions
I'd say its a pretty important attribute for most defenders (except maybe lineman), Jumping/Catching is a great way to train on intense.

Thanks for the help guys. I guess I'll go VIS/JMP and then JMP/CATCH

no lineman too. i had really low jumping with DE. i started training it. i think just 5 more points make a huge difference (ok that was about a 30% improvement) of the 40 or so none sack tackles he had, i think maybe half of those were diving tackles. of the 80+ sacks he had, a healthy proportion of those were diving too. or at least they seemed to be.

for some positions though it isnt worth taking......especially when taken to extremes
