The Jersey Dragons are proud to announce their arrival into the South East Asian League and after some major dealings over the past few days to bring in new talent, the team is excited to get the season started.

The Dragons will start their season at home at the Dragon's Lair against the Céret Zanpakut in a game that will be very interesting in order to gague the chemistry of the team and the the quality of the players.

Rookie Right Guard Junior Shields were asked by reporters what he thought about the team's preparations for the upcming season.

'It's been good, man. The team's starting to gel and we have a few definite strenghts in the team. The O-line has looked good in practice and I'm happy to have a couple of more experienced guys around me on the line.'

Shields also praised starting half back Shimmy Shake, a guy that has the ability to go to the house every time he touches the ball.

'Yeah, that guy is good, man. Have you seen the legs on him? Man, they're like tree trunks. He's quick as hell and he seems to be able to run as fast sideways as he does forwards. And he's like some damn Energizer Bunny as well. He usually runs a few wind sprints after practice just because he likes to run."

On the defensive side, the team seems to have an abundance of sceondary players at the moment with 15 defensive backs still on the roster with the first game looming. Competition for starting spots in the defensive secondary has been intense and it's looking as if a lot of players will be spending a lot of time on the bench if team mangement decides to keep all of those players on the team. More likely would be that several of the players will be released to free up some cap space, though.

The defensive backfield will need all the manpower they can get in the game against Céret Zanpakut, though, as Céret will bring their very talented recieving corps with Sébastien Lucas as the main threat. Lucas, a veteran from last season will most likely cause problems for the Dragons. Starting CB Absolute Shutdown didn't seem worried, though.

'He ain't so tough, dude. So he's got a bit of experience. So what? I am THE Absolute Shutdown, brotha, and I'll be in his face all day long. He will be positively Absolutely Shut down!'

Rookie defensive End Brutus Blindside agrees with Shutdown.

'A.S. is right, you know. That Lucas guy doesn't faze us. I mean, it's hard to catch any balls when the QB can't get a pass off. Even if the defensive backs look a bit outmatched on paper, us guys in the front seven will eat their offensive line alive. They don't stand a chance.'

With the game only hours away, only time will tell if the players confidence is warranted or not.
It will certainly be an interesting matchup, though.
