I am going to create a WR, and I wanted some input as to where I should focus his skills and what I should be aiming for in a roll. A lot of people favor the speed WR, which makes me wonder: Are there a ton of speed CB's out there to negate that advantage? Is there greater potential in a tall reciever with high catching and jumping?

Please, I will take all the advice I can get. Thank you for your time.

There are tons of CBs who are fast enough to guard speed WRs but they aren't neccassarily (sp?) speed CBs. From what Ive read your high catching/jumping player will be able to catch pretty well but won't get thrown to enough because he won't be open.

So, a speed WR really does have the advantage?

So, I should focus on speed. What's a list of important attributes after that?

well there is a difference between a speed receiver and a possession reciever that has enough speed to be able to get open so everything depends on what u want from ur receiver and sticking to it and letting ur OC know what ur receiver is for so u don't get on a team and get missed used so that ur receiver becomes nothing but a roster fill.

Speed, agility, catching all massively important (1st 2 moreso for speed, all 3 for balanced). vision, confidence, and jumping are secondary. carrying and strength are often overlooked. stamina also matters (duh).

But that doesn't mean you have to go that route, but if you do, that's the order. You can always build a high strength/carry WR or a high jump/catch WR.

If he's getting thrown to and open depends entirely upon the offense he's playing in. If your OC is constantly sending him on fly patterns, then yeah, he probably won't get thrown to a lot. But there are many ways to use many types of WRs.
