I know Bort caught a lot of heck because everyone whined about the power back being to "powerful" a few seasons ago, I even went in and figured join the crowd, now it seems the power back is nothing more than a very sub standard back in the game today with the fast elusive guys getting all yards.

I think Power Backs are still here but they're different. They are better in the second half than the first half (fatigue) especially when they are fresh and the other team isn't. Most teams I am on run the twin monster - the super elusive/speed in the beginning and the Power in the end and it seems to be working stat-wise.
It's not the tools themselves that are good or bad - it's how the coaching staff uses them.
Power backs can't be used like they were a couple seasons ago but they are still very powerful when used correctly.

They dominate in lower leagues still, since nobody has strength and tackling yet (and if they do, their speed is about 12).
Higher leagues, they can still be used very well. You just need an OC who knows how.
