OK here we go again. Week 1 is always a huge crap shoot.
1. ***Official*** Footballguys V 8. Texas Roughnecks. The CHAMPS start off with a tough road game down in Tejas. OFG has a new owner but the same look. Hulk takes over one of the best teams in all of GLB. Big Shirley and Blazing were scary enough than they added Tumr to the mix and the ground game is flat out nasty in Footballguy land. Duffman is still with OFG running the D so there should be no let down on that side of the ball (I wonder if he charges Hulk to see his forum)
Speaking of Nasty running attacks the Roughnecks get the return of a BEAST power back to join the amazing Tick. Great that's what the West needed another monster. Than after bulking up the Ground Lawdawg figured he might as well bring over Cybershots Monster QB. There O should be a real pain in the ass to stop this year. Good thing because there D was not quite up to the offenses skill set last year. Expect the score board to light up in Roughneck games this year.
OFG wins 49-45
2. Monmouth Evil Monkeys V 6. Alpine Golphers. Shockingly the Evil Monkeys got a tough East squad in Week 1. The men from Monmouth will try to stop their streak of blowing game win at 2. Monmouth shored up an already good defense with some very solid new dots. Offensively not much changed from last year, but look for explosive new WR's Marsh, Pogo and the return of Bobby Moore along with J.D. Out of the backfield to see the ball often.
Cavalier has put together a very impressive team in Alpine. The D is the teams strong suit and it should be a very tough squad to score on this year. Offensively the Golfers have a few bugs to work out, but if they put it together than can beat anyone in GLB. (just not the Monkeys on day 1)
Evil Monkeys win 38-21
3. Cincinnati Shockers V 26. Dread City Diabolicals. The Shockers went shopping at the Green Bay MAUL after last season and ended up with some impresive deals. A hand full of PP's and His Gay Lover (the dot's name, no comment on PP having an alternate lifestyle whatsoever) should make the Shockers an even scarier opponent this season. With Young and Orangeblood Cincinnati has two of the Best players in USA PRO history starting together and are always a force on O.
Dread City won a AAA conference title last year. There prize for this is getting a top 5 team in all of GLB as their opening game in a new league. Hey a lot of teams start 0-1 and still make the playoffs (trust me I know)
Shockers win 52-14
4. Washington Wolfpack V 32. Pittsburgh Steel. Painmaker won the Schedule lottery pulling the basically gutted Steel in game 1. The Pack upgrade at a few key positions and kept the rest of the amazing dots on the team. They are going to need more than one football to keep Pallow, Street and Copeland happy, WRs on the Pack are going to think it's season 8 all over again. So as if the D was strong enough in Washington they added Asheme's Freak SS, WTF can you guys stop recruiting these amazing dots.
Decided that they didn't want to try anymore so I'm not going to try to do a write up on them. HA
WW wins 175-0
5. Minnesota Marauders V 20. Washington Bullets. We get a rematch of the season 7 title game to start off the Marauders season. Galk and his guys are looking for a different outcome this time. Minnesota's beast DE's are drooling over their new found freedom and should be tough to control this year. Offensively as if they didn't have enough weapons they added PP's WR to an already deep and scary squad.
As long as the Bullets have Monkeyskin and CG running the show and Ledyard's dots on the team they will be dangerous. This is a team that is top 4 in any other league in GLB, unfortunaetly for them they are in the Hell of USA PRO.
MM wins 42-21
7. West Scranton Invaders V 25. Washington Slashers. The Invaders decided it was time to stop winning AAA titles in OPL and Play with the big boys. Welcome to the show, now lets see what you are made of. Nautilus and his staff should make the transition smoothly having played top level competition outside of OPL for the past few seasons. The toughest league in GLB definitely got tougher when this switch happened.
Slashers also come up with a conference crown from AAA on the resume. Welcome and get ready to have hell unleashed upon you
WSI wins 45-21
9. Indianapolis Gurupies V 13. San Diego Lightning. The Gurupies look to build on a solid first USA PRO season which included a playoff spot. They Hit up the now defunct Fins for some impressive talent. Look for their O to step it up a notch this season. Their already solid D shouldn't have any problems keeping teams out of the endzone.
The Lightning are loaded on O and should be able to score on anyone they play. The roster limit might hurt SDL's special teams, but the will still be dangerous with THE HAMMER returning kicks. The question now is YJP a better DC than BP. The success of their D will determine exactly how far the Lightning go this year.
Indy wins 41-35
10. Honolulu Hurricane Warriors V 15. South Otto Fragile Porcelain Mice. The PWT runner up Cannes are ready to make another push for USA PRO greatness. As always they will be led by their amazing D. Season after season the Wang nation plays some nasty D. They also on occasion look fairly nasty on O. If they can work out their issues when they have the dotball the Warriors could contend for the title, if not they will be fighting to make the playoffs.
SOFPM, what the hell is up with that name. Not a slam, just curious. AAA gold trophies are hard to come by, so this should be a solid squad.
HHW wins 38-14
11. Northwest Arkansas Naturals V 19. Chicago Hedgehogs. NAN made it to the playoffs in season 1 in USA PRO and should be able to do the same this year. Solid team that has a tendency to struggle against top notch oppenents (See Maulers, Green Bay season 9).
The Hogs crapped all over themselves to end season 9. Losing their last 7 games, all by at least 2 scores. Wise is considered by some a great offensive GM (he is first on the list of those that believe this) and he needs to step it up this year if the Hogs want to make the playoffs.
NAN wins 40-32
12. Lincoln Navigators V 27. New Jersey Blaze. Guess who's back, NAVS are back. Look for Lincoln to have a big bounce back year coming off a disapointing (by there standards) season 9. The Navs played well near the end of last year and were a solid tourney team. I will be shocked if Lincoln doesn't have something important to do on day 32....and I'm not talking about going CPU.
The Blaze are from Jersey so that got that going for them.
Lincoln wins 38-21
14. Over the Rhine Red Dots V 31. Nashville Hounds. How many freaking teams did the dots Merge with. Chem 53 is not pretty at the Moment but they should be OK by seasons end. It's going to take some time to figure out all the pieces and how they go together, but between Tooley, Henne, Vegas Bronco and Jrry they might get lucky and figure it out. As long as Ubastards isn't allowed to have any input this should be a playoff team.
The hounds are posters boys for backdooring your way into USA PRO. They are going to wish they stayed in AAA
OTRRD Win 48-10
16. Compton Vikings V 18. Carolina Hammer. Compton now has MR. SMITH END OF PREVIEW
The Hammer could be a very dangerous team. I don't see them making the playoffs again this season, BUT I might be overating the new Eastern teams.
Compton wins 31-28
17. San Diego Demolition V 21. Richey Royals
SDD wins 28-24
22. Ketchikan Kamper Adventure Rentals V 29. Cleveland Buckeyes
KKAR wins 31-21
23. Detroit Demon Lions V 24. Parma
Parma wins 35-31
28. Columbus Woodys V 30 NY/CA Ground Pounders
Woodys win 30-24
