Haha. I think people panic too much about retiring. Retiring almost always lets you create a better guy in the end and shouldn't be seen as a failure or criticism.

Anyway I may be taking the no SAs early to the extreme as I've yet to spend 1 SP on SAs and probably won't for a few more levels. By neglecting TV and Shed Block, I'm getting all my skills to the caps I'm aiming for. Should I be getting TV and Shed Block earlier and sacrifice one of my caps I'm training?

Why would u waste SPs pumping up to 77 in speed and agility? Should have held off until u atleast softcapped these three. This player is essentially pointless to have on a team with these three in the state they are in.

no not really. u want to get one attribute high (3rd or 4th cap0 to capitalize on the natural lvl gains. stamina vision and confidence arent as important as other attributes. and all tho he may not be ass effective as a more balanced player right away he will far better off in the future seasons.

Conf is huge, but I'd rather be excellent every other day than great every day. I'm a huge fan of capped conf at higher levels, but since you don't need more than 48 as a D-lineman points are better spent on primaries like Speed, Agility, and Strength so that they naturally level higher.

Last season I had 20 sacks and 38 hurries so even while slowbuilding, Speed DE's can remain effective. I want to be the best pass rusher on the field, so I pumped to 77 for both AGI/Speed so I'd be the most likely to get a sack on the first play. That way when I hit level 50 with full equipment, I'll be at 116 speed and 82 agility. I'm not trying to be a well rounded player, I'm trying to be a pass rushing specialist that is built only for sacks.

Oh and I have a full time backup at LDE so I don't need stamina as I never play more than 1 down in a row.

See, I think people are too quick to tell others to retire. There's only one real way to learn this, and thats to go through the end.

My first guys I was impatient as hell; putting points into my SA trees for the quick boost to play well in lower league play (of course, I was a level 6 playing in the Pros, which will NEVER happen again either ). Do you lose a marginal amount of potential points doing that too early? Hell yes. Capping ups your natural boosts, which is SO valuable later in the game, but there are a LOT of cookie-cutter builds out there, who just follow the same basic trudge.

You can build a theme character first, and balance him later, is what I'm saying. The passible 5 point loss is offset by a greater understanding of your own build. There are some builds that are unsalvageable. I've retired a couple of failed experiments (Balanced TEs for example, ESPECIALLY without boosting). But my NT I've had since day 1. And he's a fucking monster.
